a little planning ahead... or just free money
as many know, i hang out at the dave ramsey* message forum. over there, we have a thread going where we're encouraging each other to get/find free things throughout the year.
one of the biggest free stuff generator is SWAGBUCKS
swagbucks is a free site that you sign up for. it's a search site, of sorts. you use their search engine, and every so often you earn SWAGBUCKS. you then cash in the swagbucks for free stuff. the biggest bang is the $5 amazon e-gift card.
there are various ways to earn swagbucks, they add up and you get free stuff... you can even get cash sent to your paypal acct.
the link above is to my referral to the site. i think they are running a "special" on how many swagbucks you get when you sign in with a referral.
many of us are using the $5 amazon e-gift card to save for christmas shopping... others are just reducing they out of pocket expense when they do their regular amazon shopping
just thought i'd share

Re: a little planning ahead... or just free money
I have heard a lot of good things about Swagbucks. I use MyPoints, but I keep forgetting to sign-in first before I make online purchases. Whoops!

Re: a little planning ahead... or just free money
Thanks so much for this!
Libby, can you also recommend a few sites for regular grocery food shopping?
I used to be SOO good at this but then when I moved OOS, the food was so much cheaper there AND the supermarkets there GIVE you coupons and there's always meal deals, so the need for coupons was there really (plus most of the SM wouldn't allow you to stack coupons, so it was pointless really).
Do you frequent slickdeals or any other sites? I go on the messageboard on couponmom.com that one is good but I want something that'll help me maximize my savings at each shopping trip.

Also try mommysavers..they do individual stores and survivingthestores is another good one.
And afullcup as mentioned.

i'm a HUGE fan of afullcup.com
the people there are AMAZING to help you out. they will even do theh work for you... it's crazy how helpful they are
you can tell them the things you want to buy, the coupons you have, and the store you're going to... they will come up with the scenarios to help you max your savings... so it it means that you have to do 2 or 3 transactions at walgreens, so what... your out-of-pocket expense can be almost nothing.
they have helped me beyond belief to get the stockpile i have.
i don't think i have to buy cream cheese, butter, flour, sugar, swiss miss hot cocoa mix, mayo, aluminum foil, ziploc bags, peanut butter, razors, shampoo, toothpaste, tampons, body wash, deodorant, soda (for family gatherings), canned corn... for about a year... and most of these items were free

Re: a little planning ahead... or just free money
I have a swagbucks account but I never remember to use it.
I am a big fan of Ebates! They send you regular checks you can deposit to your bank account - none of this gift card nonsense where you just spend more money.
I use my points for a few things but I mostly click through emails - I am close to having enough points for $100 gift card to Macys.
