A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
Are you getting the regular flu shot while preggo, even if you never had it the shot before preggo?
Are you getting the swine flu shot?
Also, what trimester are you in?

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
I am in my second trimester and I already had the regular flu shot a few weeks ago. I am waiting on the swine flu shot.
I am a teacher and work with kids so I am not going to test it out. It is a hard decision but I am confident with the CDC recommendations.

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
I am getting the regular flu shot. Actually, I'm getting it tonight. My OB doesn't do it in office, but she said I should get it. So, I'm going to my drugstore tonight, they do it there. I am 14 weeks and 3 days.
As for the swine flu shot, I am on the fence. I have to talk to my regular Dr. and see if they have it and if they think I should. My OB just said "they are saying pregnant women should get it"

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
I got the regular flu shot, I did get it last year as well when I wasn't pg.
Swine flu - still deciding on it - depends really on the timing, it might be a non-issue since I'm due in December and I'm not sure when my ob will get it in.

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
I didnt want to get the flu shot but then I read how it would protect the baby and since Im due in Jan. I decided to get the mercury free one. My doctor was pretty adamant about it so I did it.....
I dont know what to do about the swine flu shot. Dont think my exposure warrants the risk, but the media is freaking me out with all the talk of deaths and such....
Ugh.....so sick of hearing about swine flu!

im on the fence.
i normally dont get sick and i havent had the flu in ageeees.
BUT im going to be observing elem kids starting in a few weeks...so i might just get the reg flu shot but im not 100% sure yet.
if i werent in contact with young kids and just at my reg office job...i would be skipping both.

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
I am getting the regular flu shot but I'm not sure what to do about the swine flu shot. I saw my OB yesterday and she said to wait until the 2nd trimester to get the swine shot. I am 8 weeks so I'll be fully pg during the whole flu season. Also I live in Queens and commute into the city by subway everyday so I'm thinking maybe I should get both. I'm not sure!

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
I have to get both shots since I am a nurse and work in a hospital setting.
I have no problem getting the regular flu vaccine even though I have never gotten that one before. If it wasnt mandated by NYS I probably wouldnt even get it.
I am nervous about getting the swine flu vaccine but I have no choice. If I dont get it by November 30, my job considers you off duty without pay. If you dont get it by the end of December it is considered a voluntary resignment.

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
I am 26 wks - due in Jan. I've never gotten a flu shot b/f. I'm not getting either as of now. I won't say it's a decision I feel 100% happy about - mostly b/c I have a toddler so its hard for me to completely avoid germs - but, after reading into it ALOT I feel like I am making the most informed decision I can given all the factors.

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
I dont think im getting either...i hear too many mixed things and it makes me worried that they really don't know if theres any effect on the baby afterwards
Im a teacher and will be working right up until my due date (well, as long as i can) at the end of december so im just REALLY hoping my class doesn't pass anything on to me..thankfully they are obsessed with hand sanitizer lol
I am in my 3rd trimester (but just started it)

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
Im in my 3rd tri and just got my flu shot yesterday. I got the preservative free shot specifically for pregnant women. I am still on the fence about the H1N1 shot. I will ask my Dr. at my next visit.

Re: A little repetitive, I know..(Flu shot related poll)
Getting both - I get the flu shot every year - doesn't make sense not to get the swine flu vaccine since they are essentially the same thing. Spoke to tons of family members who are in the medical profession, including someone who is highly involved with the study of the swine flu, and to me it isn't even a question. Good Morning America broadcasted from the CDC this morning and had a whole segment about pregnant women and the vaccination - it was good and informative.
