a little scared - protein in urine
so at my appt tuesday, my BP was a little high. my feet and hands were swollen. so they made me do the 24 hour urine collection, which i submitted yesterday when i went to the doc again. at the doc yesterday, my blood pressure was normal and so were my blood tests. today, the doctor called me and said there was protein in my 24 hour urine sample and to keep an eye out for headaches or vision changes. i am scheduled to go back monday.
i am 37 w 4 d and a little scared now. yesterday at the appt he did mention a possible induction next week. has anyone had any experiences with this??? TIA.

Re: a little scared - protein in urine
to be honest, im surprised they didnt just send you to l&d if you are 37w. i had the same thing happen at 32w and they sent me to the hospital on bed rest. my BP was fine but i was swollen and there was protein in my urine on the 24 hour. when i was in the hospital they basically told me if i had any changes whatsoever, headache, vision, stomachache.. they would deliver me. i was hoping to make it to 36w but at 33w i developed HELLP syndrome which is a serious complication of pre-eclampsia. they delivered me that day at 33w1d. def take it easy and if you have any changes call your doctor!!

Re: a little scared - protein in urine
You had protein, but not enough yet (if they didn't send you to L&D). I had some protein for a few weeks (I think it was around 33 weeks) before it got to high enough levels where they were concerned. I also developed high blood pressure, seeing spots, and eventually preeclampsia, that was at 36w6d. Don't be scared! If you have any changes call your dr right away. At this point your baby will not be premature which is GREAT!
