A little too eventful of a Saturday.....LONG w/questions at the end
I'll start by saying I'm 34 weeks preggo.
So I ended up in the L&D section of the hospital yesterday (Saturday) around 8:30am. I was having cramping (which I thought was gas but turned out to be contractions) and brown staining (which totally freaked me out but turned out to be part of my mucus plug...TMI, I know). I also felt like there was a decrease in baby movement. Scariest moment of my life when they hooked up the baby heart monitor....thank God his little heart was beating like a champ. They said it was brought on by dehydration...so they hooked me up to an IV and gave me a bunch of fluids. They told me I was contracting but didn't really feel them. 3 hrs later they sent me home. I napped, drank lots of water and had dinner.
By 11pm that same night, I was feeling strong contractions in my lower back. Freaking out, I again called the OB and she sent me back to L&D. They gave me another IV and when they didn't go away, they gave me 2 shots of Terbutaline to stop them and sent me home with a script to take it orally for another week.
So.....my questions are....has anyone else had this happen? Do you ever stop feeling jittery on these meds? Since yesterday AM, I still am having brown staining (parts of mucus plug) coming out....when does that stop? I'm so afraid my little guy is going to come too early!!
I know I had more questions when I started typing this......but I guess I'll add them as I remember them

Re: A little too eventful of a Saturday.....LONG w/questions at the end
I went to hospital at 35 weeks with my ds. I was having contractions which totally shocked my Dr and DH. The nurses kept asking me if I had been hydrating....at this point I think I was drinking gallons of water a day. They gave me the shots as well Dr. didnt want to deliver until at least 36 weeks). I went back in a week and a half later but as I was in the hospital, evreything seemed to stop. Then the induced me 2 and a half weeks later. Also, I was probably losing my plug when this all began. I delivered a beautiful healthy boy! Good luck and keep us posted!

When I was pregnant with Melanie they put me on Terbutaline and had me one bedrest for 2 weeks. Honestly, I never stoped feely jittery while on the meds, and at times my heart would race like crazy and I felt as though I'd have a heart attack. How often are you taking the meds? I had to take it every 6 hours and it was horrible.

Re: A little too eventful of a Saturday.....LONG w/questions at the end
I just had this happen to me at 35 weeks ( i am just about 37 now). They gave me shots of that terbutaline b/c I was contracting a lot (didn't really feel the contractions, just cramping and lower back pain). Well I took myself off the meds the next day b/c I HATED what the medicine did to my body and the doc said should I deliver then that my would do just fine. He wanted me to hold out till 36 weeks and here i still am at 37...although I still have random contractions and crampiness all the time.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I know its scary but chances are its false labor and your body preparing now...at least if you get to 36 weeks you're littlle one will be totally fine. Good luck, rest up and feel better!
edited to say i never stopped feeling jittery on those meds...it was awful for me. I could not sleep and felt my heart would explode. I also didn't like what i read about the possible risks to the baby (i did my own research and therefore came to the conclusion to stops the meds).

Re: A little too eventful of a Saturday.....LONG w/questions at the end
I'm nervous now.....what possible risks are there to the baby?
When I was in the hospital, before the nurse gave me the 1st shot, I asked if it could hurt the baby and she assured me it couldn't!!!

Re: A little too eventful of a Saturday.....LONG w/questions at the end
First I want to say that I hope everything works out for you and the little guy will stay in for a little bit longer!
Second, my sister experienced this last year. She was due 12/10 and had to be put on bedrest at 31 weeks. She received the drug to stop contractions, steriod shots, etc. She was off bedrest at 36 weeks and delivered on 12/6. Her baby was born healthy and she continues to do well. She's one of the brightest, most curious and happy babies I know! (I am her proud godmother!)
Best wishes to you!

Re: A little too eventful of a Saturday.....LONG w/questions at the end
Thanks girls.
The contractions have stopped completely. I called my DR this AM about how yucky the meds make me feel and he wants me in to see him today instead of waiting till my wed appt.
I'll keep you updated and again thanks for all the and
