Re: A man carrying his "woman's" handbag...

I say more power to a woman who can get her man to do this. If I ever need JT to hold my bag for a second, he rolls his eyes and holds it away from his body on one finger. However, it is a rare occasion that I would emasculate him that wayChat Icon

If he is in the "man chair" at a store, then he will hold it. If not, I hold it myself.

I would hold it, but I would not walk more than two steps with it...almost like Ultimate Frisbee

Re: A man carrying his "woman's" handbag...

IF we are at the store together and I place it on a rack while I'm looking for things, I get the big HUFF, the big Chat Icon and he puts it on his shoulder.

Other than that, NAY.

Not cool unless she can't carry her bag or is carrying so many other things that she can't carry it.

However, sometimes when I need to use a public restroom, I will give DH my bag to hold because restrooms can be skeevy. When I do this, I get this Chat Icon from DH!

I think it's akin to having a man buy your pads or tampons. Totally unnecessary.

Re: A man carrying his "woman's" handbag...

Actually, now that I think about it, I prefer a bag with ONE long strap so i can throw it across my chest and shoulder to have my hands free and it wont slide down. If it is a handbag, then its a different story.

Re: A man carrying his "woman's" handbag...

The only time he holds it is when he's helping me out of the car (if I have a gift or something) - then we make a quick exchange.

I don't make him hold it...not because it's feminine, but because I think one day he'd just put it down and leave it somewhere! Chat Icon

Re: A man carrying his "woman's" handbag...

Let me clarify...I meant where a man is holding her bag and she is holding nothing.

For instance:
I was walking to work this morning and in front of me was a man holding his SO's Fendi bag...she had NOTHING in her hands...no bags, clothing, etc...

Is it a cultural thing that I'm missing out on?

not true. if DH is with me and I am juggling stuff at the store - like clothes. what's the big deal if he holds it for me for a minute? he doesn't love it, but he does it to help me.

its not like I ask him to hold it while we're taking a walk Chat Icon

Chat Icon Of course it's true for me - it's my opinion on the topic and I find it completely unnecessary.

I have juggled and whatever but I have never felt so inundated with things that I needed my husband to carry my bag. Different strokes for different folks.

Not that you specifically have to answer....but I'm curious to know "why?" Why would a man ever have to carry his SO's handbag?

never going to happen with my DH, he always gives me the Chat Icon look when I ask him to hold it for a min, like I was taking away his "boys" or something.

That's what I'm saying.

I guess I do the majority of my shopping alone so I don't find my bag becomes something I need to off-load. It's mine, my responsbility.

In the situation you posted about Chrissy - I think it's absurd that he carried it for her while she carried nothing. Totally emasculating...and she comes across as being really high-maintenance.
