a new fear that i have- stillborn
i couldn't even imagine giving birth to a stillborn baby. Don't the doctors monitor the baby as soon as you go into labor? I saw a show the other day where the girl said her first baby was stillborn. It was heartbreaking .
Is this common?

No it's not common but it can happen.
A LOT of things can happen. That's why they check the baby's heart, baby movement, etc...
You CAN'T worry about all of this or it will drive you nuts.
I don't watch those shows. They freak me out too much. While I am aware things can happen, I focus on how happy I will be to be able to hold my baby in my arms.

Re: a new fear that i have- stillborn
Usually this type of thing happens sometime during the pregnancy and not during delievery...That is partly why the doctor tells you to call should you feel a decrease if fetal movement.
Its a fairly uncommon in this day and age with all our prenatal tests etc.
My advice is to keep yourself informed but dont drive yourself nuts or worry to much about all the things that could go wrong.
Im sure you are going to have a happy and healthy baby!!!!!
Besides I have enough worry here for everyone!

If you are nervous, lay on your left side and see how long it takes for the baby to move 10 times. If they are awake - it will usually happen within 10 minutes, but I think they say it's OK upto an hour or two if they are sleeping.
ETA: drink sometime sweet too and that usually will wake them up!

I have that fear constantly too. Sometiems when I go to the doctor and it takes too long to find the heartbeat I panic but then boom we hear the race horses and I exhale. Normal fear
