A question for the Minivan Moms

We're starting to think about getting a minivan, and I was wondering how yours is configured. Do you have 2 bench seats in the back, or captains chairs and then a bench seat? Can the car seats be installed in the captains chairs?

my sister has a Honda Odyssey and it has 2 captains chairs in the middle (she did put car seats in those seats) and a bench for the third row. She LOVES her Odyssey.

I have a Toyota Sienna that has 8 seats. 3 in the 2nd and 3rd rows. The seat can be put in any of the back seats although one of them doesnt come LATCH equipped for some reason (it might have to do with the way it folds) My set up with 3 seats is my DD behind the driver, DS #2 (rear facing) in the middle next to her. The next seat is empty but pops forward to access the back. In the 3rd row on the passenger side, I have my DS #1 in his booster.

We usually have the other 2 rear seats folded down for storage. We could remove the seat right behind the passenger seat but its easy enough for him to get in and I like that I can easily transport another adult in that seat. Sometimes I sit there if we are going out as a family to be next to the baby if he is fussy.

We opted for the 8 seater instead of the 7 seater and Im glad we did because we've utilized all 8 seats a few times. With a 7 seater, the captains chairs are definitely wider and I know with the Sienna, you can move the captains chairs together and access the 3rd row easier from the side rather than through the 2 seats. I have a friend with a 7 seater and she does that and has her 2 girls side by side like that.

We have the Kia Sedona. 2 captain's chairs in the middle and a bench seat in the back. Our two car seats are on the captain's chairs. It would honestly be really awkward to have them in the back. The center console can be folded down, so if you need to get to the back for any reason from the driver or passenger seat, it's easier. The back row can be folded down and the captain's chairs can be folded so the surface is flat (not sure if I explained that so it made sense). There's a decent amount of trunk space. My double stroller fits in no problem.
