A quick csection question
Can they/will the anesthesiologist give you something to calm down your nerves if you need it? I can't imagine not being able to feel my body and hearing all the drs talk but being able to keep calm. Thinking ahead and starting to panic...

I love when they give you something to relax (I have had other surgeries).

Re: A quick csection question
LOL that's the first question I had when I had my scheduled c-section for my 2nd. Since I freaked out so bad for the first I asked my anesthesiologist if I could be given a sedative, or whatever, before they even started cutting and he said I couldn't have anything like that until the baby was out--those drugs pass to the baby. Once she was out, I found I didn't need them after all!

Re: A quick csection question
I was giving a sedative intravenously. I was slightly out of it but not if that makes sense
I was freaked out that the sensation of being numb from my chest down would freak me out. It didn't with the drugs

Re: A quick csection question
I don't know the answer - but I can tell you that I basically made the anesthesiologist talk to me the entire time. I made him - in percentages tell me how much was done (10%, 20% - baby is out, 60% done with closing up etc)
He was amazing and really really distracted me - I don't know that I would have been as calm without him.
There was a time when I thought I was going to be sick - he put this little pan right next to my head - I was like "what the heck do you expect me to do with this - and how the hell am I going to aim for this pan" -- after that I Realized that I sooo did not want to throw up all over myself before holding Jack so I basically had to talk myself down from being sick. It was all mind of matter for me at that point.

Sorry, I was just jumping on this morning to do something before bring the kids to school. Nirtous Gas. Laughing gas. He said it was fine for the baby. I had a TERRIBLE experience having #2 so I was freaked out going in, they all knew it. I wanted someting to relax me, it worked WELL!! Before I started breathing it in I asked about the effects on the baby and he said little to none. Lukie is fine so I guess he was right

I wonder why some will offer something and some won't?
