A simple home security type thing I heard ( since we are on that topic today !)
I read somewhere that you should always keep your car alarm remote by your bed- If there ever were an intruder, you can set your car alarm off to deter the intruder...I also have a panic button on my remote for my house, so that would do the same thing

That would only work if you car is in range. My alarm would never go off from my bedroom.

Great tip!!! Thank you!!! I also have started keeping my cell phone right on the night stand next to the bed at nights too in case of an emergency (the only land line is in the kitchen).

My neighbors just told me about this trick. I wonder if people around here would actually respond to it or if it would scare of intruders?

Another good tip:
Don't set your car navigation system to "home." Valets and such can take your car while you are at your event, hit home on nav and enter your home through your garage.

I think its not so much as to alert for help, but more so to play on an intruders panic reflex.....At least thats how I took the article...
Kind of like how they say that a criminal is less likely to prey on someone that is talking on a cell phone ..Its too much of a risk factor for them..

Absolutely. If my neighbors alarm was going off I'd be up making sure it wasn't mine. Obviously if it was going off for awhile I'd think there was an issue and I'd probably go out and check. We are all very aware of each other on this block...

Me too. I really wouldn't think anything of a car alarm going off other than it's annoying and I want it to stop.

We have a home alarm system but I have a panic button on the wall in our bedroom. That is another good idea.
