A small victory...

DH or I have rocked johnny to bed since he's born. WITH a bottle..even at 21 months he still had that night bottle and naptime one...

Starting this monday, we eliminated the bottle and gave him a sippy and no more rocking till he's asleep...we laid him down after 10 minutes (he gets read a book and I sing to him for a bit)...

And I have to say, it was a success!! I was very worried about it but he cries for 1 minute when we leave the room and then we hear him happily babbling/singing and then he is asleep on his own after about 20 minutes.

This is HUGE for me!! I always rocked him because it was the one thing that made him cuddle and be content with me, lol. For moms of children that do NOT cuddle much you know how nice it feels when they do....

I am proud!! I was a tad bit sad to stop rocking, but this bedtime routine is just as nice Chat Icon

That is great!!

I know how it feels. I have been putting Megan to sleep like that forever..mostly because it was our ONLY cuddle time and it meant the world to me.

I created a monster who WILL NOT go to sleep by herself now...so I KNOW what a HUGE thing this is! YAY!

You know my pain too well!! My high spirited kid who won't stop to sit with me LOVED to cuddle at night. But I got to the point where I felt it was enough..especially when we're traveling and I'm sitting on a bed holding him until he's out like a light. I didn't mind it but started to recently..

Try it out when you're ready. It was much much easier that I ever thought!!! We had tried it months ago and he screamed for 45 minutes and I coudn't do it..

I know how you feel, I rocked my dd to sleep for the first 12 months. After that, she began "fighting" me so we did CIO. She only cries for less than 5 minutes now. But I miss it too.....my dd is not much of a cuddler either Chat Icon
