A sushi question...
I know we are not allowed to have sushi, but I get california rolls and my DH is convinced that I am not allowed to eat the crabmeat in the rolls. Is he right?

Re: A sushi question...
No..I ate a TON of california rolls while I was pregnant. The crabmeat is cooked, it's just cold. I also ate eel...a dragon roll...highly recommended.

Re: A sushi question...
Actually and if you go to a good sushi place you'll find that there are quite a few options on the menu that include the cooked crab and eel in different combinations. You can also have shrimp tempura rolls since they are cooked, and there is a rool i used to get, I can't remember the name for the life of me, that's tuna and salmon and then they deep fry it. i stopped getting it because i wanted something lighter, but it was SOOO good and COOKED!
I really miss sushi!

Re: A sushi question...
I ate tons of sushi as long as it had no raw fish in it.

Re: A sushi question...
There was just an article in Glamour about pregnancy practices in different countries.. in Japan- they continue to eat the raw fish. An American Dr. was quoted as saying the raw fish thing is stupid and that it should be OK but eaten in moderation... thought that was interesting and something I always thought about.. you know- what do the Japanese do.. do those pregnant women get sick?

Re: A sushi question...
The cooked stuff is fine, but remember to avoid the roe on the outside - it's raw fish eggs (I made this mistake early on and FREAKED out). My doctor actually told me there's nothing studied that raw fish is bad (or at least worse than at any other time) but that it just dosn't seem like a great idea because anyone can get sick from it. So even if you cheat once or twice I wouldn't worry about it. I think sushi is the thing I miss the most!!
