AAA car pricing
We are in the market for a new car. We both really hate the whole car dealership experience and that is one of the reasons I have put off buying one. I was wondering if anyone has used the AAA pricing at car dealerships and what your experience was.
Supposedly, it is a set price for AAA customers and you don't have to haggle, but I am wondering if it is BS or if it really is a decent deal and worth it. TIA.

Re: AAA car pricing
I don;t know about AAA, but I will go on kelly blue book's website, cars.com and msn autos and price out the cars with all the features I want. I will print out those pages and bring them with me to the dealer. In addition, I go on line to the dealers and request price quotes. When I got to a dealer, I don't tell them what they already quoted me on line or what I found - i keep that in the folder for me to refer to. I then ask what is their best price, then I say I have a quote for whatever you got on line if it was less, and see if they will beat it. I also negotiate here for perks - like what cars do they have on the lot and what features do they have. I don;t want to pay extra for stuff I may want but they they have as an upgreade already on the lot. I will then ask what deal do I get for paying all at once, or with financing or can I finance and then pay off the month later and are their prepayment penalties. If I have a trade in, I negotiate that seperately and after I negotiate the sale price. I don't say anything about the trade in up front.

Re: AAA car pricing
We went throught a dealer that was associated with AAA when we got our 04 Santa Fe and we were were really happy. DH went to 3 other dealer and the AAA guy gave the best price by far. We are also looking for a second car now and call the same dealer back and the quote he gave us was really good and about $3k below another dealer. We decided an getting another brand, but we will only go throught a AAA dealer.
We recently heard that Costco also has some good car buying program, but we haven't really looked into it yet.

Re: AAA car pricing
Thanks for the info - all of it is helpful. DDB, that is exactly what I was looking for. I was thinking of starting with the AAA dealer and then seeing if anyone else could beat that quote.
