The fact that someones mommy or daddy shelled out $50 for a sweatshirt is what makes that kid "cool" in school?
Yes. To a pre-teen and teenager, it really does. Wearing your Kohl's best just ain't gonna cut it. Because remember, you're dealing with personalities and minds that aren't fully developed and what they deem important just isn't, but that's who this guy is marketing. He's not selling to the parents, he's selling to KIDS and they're parents are buying them this stuff.
Posted by BabyBMakes3 Long live chunky girls. I'd rather be fat than be this guys target audience.
This statement is MUCH easier said as a grown adult, with a lot more self confidence than a pre-teen or teenaged girl or boy. It is VERY rare to find a kid who doesn't want to fit in and is ok with being the "fat kid".
Fair enough.
At the same time...I've always been chunky, not to mention we didn't have a lot of money growing up. So, I am the girl who wore fake Airwalk sneakers (or fake whatever) and got teased for it A LOT and I came out of it okay. My parents taught me to be tough and they taught me the value of their hard earned dollars, and I even though I got teased...I never really let those kids bother me. I realize not every child can get past it, and I really do feel for them. It's not my intention to speak for them...just myself
It's hard being a kid these days...and it's even harder to be a parent trying to teach a kid that it's okay to be themselves when things like this are the "norm". It's just sad.
