Abnormal cells shown on Pap?
I had this once before and they did that cryo-freezing thing...ouch!
So, now I have the abnormal cells again and have to go for a biopsy....
Just nervous I guess....

Re: Abnormal cells shown on Pap?
This happened to me when I had my first PAP (at age 32 ) I had to go for a biopsy first, then the cryo freezing thing.
Take it from someone who is chicken syht of doctors and had to take 2 valium before going for the procedure (and even that didn't calm me down!) it's not all that bad.
I've been told it's a fairly common occurance.

Re: Abnormal cells shown on Pap?
The same thing happened to me a few months ago- when I went in for my annual and we'd already been TTC for a few months.
I had a biopsy and some other procedure done and both came back ok. Sometimes the abnormal cells are just this side of abnormal and just have to be monitored.
Good luck to you!

Re: Abnormal cells shown on Pap?
My pap came back as "favored dysplasia" from my annual 2 weeks ago and I am going on Friday for a colposcopy & biopsy.
I was told to take 2 advil prior to the procedure b/c it can sometimes induce cramping afterwards.
Good luck to you...

Re: Abnormal cells shown on Pap?
I have been down this path as well. Have the abnormal cells, had the freezing, have had too many biopsies to count, and am still being monitored.
In a strange way - I am sort of glad to see that I am not alone.
Good Luck!

Exactly! Lots of us have had irregular cells show up on paps. Some required colposcopy, freezing, lasers(which I had years ago) and some requier nothing more than more frequent visits to monitor them. When you have diligent doctors, they will call you in and treat you for the slightest abnormality which to me is better than being left to wonder. My doc's office called me after a visit which was immediately after our first month of TTC. He prescribed a cream, and told me to come back for a pap in 6 months (I usually go every 9). It is on the top of my chart that we are TTC and that is why I think he contacted me so quickly. When I spoke to him, he said I had nothing to worry about in terms of TTC but to hold out in using the cream until after I got a period. Had I been pregnant, the cream could have been dangerous to a baby in the first trimester.

Re: Abnormal cells shown on Pap?
Well I spoke with my doctor about it and he said I did not have to worry about fertility or TTC. I would speak to your doctor - every person is different.

I had abnormal cells that turned out to be cervical dysplasia. I had the biopsy, freezing and then LEEP. That was almost 7 years ago and everything has been clear since. I actually go to the gyno tonight
I don't believe the biopsy or cryo is any harm, but when I went for the LEEP they advised me of the side effects and had me sign a release. At that stage I didn't care what the side effects were, I just wanted the probelm taken care of.
Talk to your doctor

Thanks, I hope a LEEP is not necessary, as it wasn't the first time. I have heard it can disturb TTC and can cause miscarriages as well, so hoping not to have it....

Re: Abnormal cells shown on Pap?
I had the same experience with the LEEP. The procedure didn't hurt much at all, and I was just slightly uncomfortable afterward.
Wow, so many of us have experienced the same thing!
