About 34 weeks and the baby is breech- is there still hope?
So the baby has been in the Frank breech position (butt down) since about 28 weeks. I went for a checkup and sono this week and the baby is very comfortable in this position. He/she is about 5lbs already. Dr said anything can still happen but he/she is starting to run out of room. She gave me some exercises to try. Im going back next monday for another sonogram. If the baby is still breech, we are going to try an external version. I guess my question is is there still hope or really time for this baby to turn on it's own? Have any BTDT mom had luck with the exercises or external version??

I've heard of babies turning up until the last couple of weeks, so I'm sure there's still hope. Try the techniques they gave you... hopefully they will help. Good luck!!

Re: About 34 weeks and the baby is breech- is there still hope?
My hub's cousin's baby (delivered in January) was frank breech the ENTIRE pregnancy.
The morning of the c-section they went to do a sonogram to confirm the baby's placement.. and sure enough she had turned around the night before and was completely vertex...
Hope your munchkin turns for monday - but apparently even up until the very very end they can move..

Yes!!!
At my 36 week sono DS was frank breech and estimated at 7 lbs. He had been like that for a little while because the doctor 2 weeks prior suspected he might be breech.
They told me there was little to no hope and to schedule a c section....which I did.
At my 37 week appt they confirmed with a sono that he had flipped.
At 38 weeks he is still head down.
It can happen. Hang in there!

Abby was breech and turned at 35 weeks. I never would have had an external version.

Re: About 34 weeks and the baby is breech- is there still hope?
Yes this did just happen to me!!!
We sound exactly the same. Baby was frank breech since at least 28 weeks. By 34 weeks the midwives said if he didn't turn by 37 weeks we would either try an external version or schedule a C-section.
I decided against the version because of the risks. I thought baby was just too comfy and that the best thing for him was the c-section even though I so badly I wanted to try for a natural childbirth.
I went to the midwives Friday morning when I was 38 weeks 4 days. By Monday at 39 weeks I was all ready to go at the hospital and when they did a last minute sonogram he had turned!!!!!!! We were so shocked.
Some people thing it is because starting Friday afternoon I went into a cleaning frenzy. It took me 4 hours just to clean our little kitchen because I was a maniac I was climbing on top of the counters and cleaning the tops of the cabinets. I *think* he could've turned that night because his movements were hurting me but I chalked it up him being bigger and that being the reason.
I don't want to say this will happen for you but it did happen to me. Everyone said it was extremely rare for it to happen that late in pregnancy.
Just a warning though I went in thinking I'd have a baby at 39 weeks and here I am at almost 41 still with no baby Be prepared for anything!
Good luck to you and I hope he turns!!!

Re: About 34 weeks and the baby is breech- is there still hope?
I had version done at 37 weeks 2 days and it was successful. Baby is still head's down.
Not at all sure why so many on this board are against the idea of trying version. It literally took less than 3 minutes, it is done at the hospital with a perinatologist and nurse using a sonogram machine to make sure everything is going well, and it was more comfortable than internals.
Good Luck!

Thanks Ladies! It really does seem like anything can happen. I think I need to do some research on external versions.

Re: About 34 weeks and the baby is breech- is there still hope?
My DD was breech at 34 weeks. By my next appt, she turned head down. My dr said 96% of babies turn by the 38th week. I wouldn't worry.
