? about catholic godparents
I'm not catholic so I was asking for a friend ...can the godparents be a couple? I thought it had to be a godmother and a godfather not married to each other.

they dont have to be a couple....one must be catholic, and the other must be of christian or catholic religion...i beleive u can also pick 2 godmothers or fathers instead of one of each....

Some churches are ok with that but some are not.
I am pretty sure about 99% of churches are against this. We know someone going through this right now. They look at them as a gay couple

Sure it can be a couple. My son's Godparents are a couple. It's DH's Sister and husband.

My church didnt allow same sex godparents.

no no no, i didnt mean a gay couple ( not that i have a problem with that)...but the church will not allow that... i meant for instance a sister form each side of the family...sorry hope thats more clear!!!

my church only allows one of each sex & only one had to be a confirmed catholic - the other didn't matter at all.

If its a couple, they have had to be married in the catholic church (not on the beach or justice of the peace)...this was a rule of our church
