? about NSUH NYS-Grant
Hello ladies:
I already did a grant-IVF and wanted to change clinics for my final grant-IVF try. I sent in all paperwork to NSUH late Sept/early Oct, but never got anything from them, not even an acknowledgement that paperwork was received.
So I call and was told, they would be getting around to reviewing everyone's paperwork and will be getting back to everyone. It is now the end of November, and still not a word, not even a postcard!
Does it usually take this long? Or should I call them again to help the process along?
If it takes this long to get approved for the grant, I shudder to think how the actual IVF process will go.
Any ideas?

Re: ? about NSUH NYS-Grant
WOW....My process wasnt like that all.
Unless they are ending the end of their grant money possibly?
I spoke to the grant coordinator after my Dr suggested IVF....she said what we needed to Mail in to her.
We mailed it in and called about 1 week later to make sure it was recvd.
Then we met with Dr. Scholl to approve the "medical portion" of the grant about 1 month after mailing papers in. It took about 2 weeks to get the appointment making the time frame now 1 month.
We were approved after the blood tests about 3 days after our consult....and the IVF started the following week.( I was having testing and stuff for the IVF though, the entire time of this process)
I'd say it took about 5 weeks max.
I called the coordinator a LOT to push things along and the only reason it took 5 weeks was because she was on vacation for 2 of those weeks .
Your time frame doesnt sound right AT ALL.
I would talk to your Dr.
When I was waiting when the coordintor was on vacation and getting anxious. I told my Dr and she immediately called and pushed things along ....
Then I just had to pay my portion the day I got my IVF meds.

Re: ? about NSUH NYS-Grant
Thanks dm24angel!
I was thinking it was too long. Problem is, I don't have a Dr at their clinic yet. I thought their process was, apply for the grant, and whoever the grant Dr was, was the Dr I would get.
I will call the grant coordinator again tomorrow to see what she says. Last time I spoke to her, she claimed they had a backlog, and the head Dr would be reviewing the applications soon and once that was done, she would get back to me. She did say they still had funds when I asked her.
My old clinic also got more funds and they had contacted me to come and try again, but I really want to try someplace new, since my funds (for the cost-share) are limited.

Re: ? about NSUH NYS-Grant
Hmmm...Im wondering if you should just go and make an IVF consult appnt, get that part over with.
Actually, if I were you I would do that.
Make the consult appnt and see them and then tell them your waiting on the grant paperwork. They will push it through to get you cycling.
Also I found the coordinator Mary was a little behind all the time. She does a lot there and while she is sweet when you meet her and well meaning, I had to sometimes call a few times and would get very annoyed at her so I understand your frustration with that ...I was glad in part I didnt have to deal with her after we paid.
We had one small bump regarding medication being ordered at the start of our IVf and then it was pretty smooth sailing after that.
