? about Seizures
I thought that in NYS you had to be Seizure free for 6 months in order to drive. Has anyone ever heard of this before? The reason I asked is a woman at work just told me that she has a seizure early today...but still dorve to work...isn't that dangerous?

Re: ? about Seizures
I know someone here whos had a seizure and was seen by the nursing dept and drove home after the seizure was over. I didnt know all of this until later that day but I certainly do not think they should have let her drive home for her sake and the lives around her. I think the nursing dept should have made a phone call as high as they could if she was adamant about driving home. I would think they shouldnt be on the road if its not controlled but apparently it happens.

Re: ? about Seizures
From experience, under the recommendation of my dr. I was NOT allowed to drive for 6 months! Then, I got taken of the meds last spring and was again NOT allowed to drive for 6 months, as a precaution. I have been seizure free, almost 2 years. I am not 100% if it is a law, but, I know he told me some scary stories, and, boy your insurance could sky rocket if anything ever happened.

Re: ? about Seizures
I been seizure free for 35 years my neurologist and i talk alot and he would say if i ever wanted to come off the medicine( which i wont ) its just something we have to discuss he says you have to NOT have a seizure for 6 to 8 months because if you did have a seizure again after being off the meds you not just causing danger to yourself but to other drivers you can Kill someone or yourself if you dont take that precaution.

Re: ? about Seizures
I had a series of seizures about 10 years ago and wasn't able to drive for six months...no explanation for them besides stress...but they never came back.

OMG..me too! Every test under the sun! Had 2 in 2004. They actually say it may have been an ingredient in advil/aleve (seizures happened a few hours after I took these, 2 different times)... They aren't 100% sure, but I am not allowed to take any of these meds. again. NO over the counter anything but tylenol!
**Sorry to hijack, but honestly your coworker should find a ride home tonight**

Re: ? about Seizures
Do you think that people actually do what they're supposed to do with regards to the law or their health---sad, but probably true.
