About the post baby belly

I had my DC 3 weeks ago, and for the most part, the belly went away, but around my belly button (or what used to be my belly button) I look like a deflated balloon. I also have a dark line that goes down the center of my stomach - I think that takes a while to fade.

How long post partum does it take for the belly to go away? Or is this where you have to exercise and diet to tighten up a bit.

Also - if you had a c/s, how long to you have to wait until you can exercise again. My Dr. said I can't drive or really walk up and down stairs for 4 weeks, so I didn't even ask her about going back to the gym - I'm just curious what the average is.

Re: About the post baby belly

My doctor had me wait almost 8 weeks from my c/s before going back to the gym. I didnt feel up to it, until almost 12. The belly thats a whole other issue...i feel like every person is different. In my case, my stomach will never be the same. I consider it the price I pay for a beautiful son that I love.

I went back to the gym at 6 weeks and SLOWLY did my sit ups. Cardio, sit ups and light weights helped me get back to shape.

You're going to need more time to see results. The dark line went away after a year.

Re: About the post baby belly

At my 6 weeks check-up I got the OK to exercise. But I have no time anyway!!!
Landon is 12 weeks now and my line is just starting to fade now. My belly still looks gross bare, but in clothes it is starting to look somewhat normal.

I had gotten the ok to evercise at my post check-up....but who had the time. I still don't have the time to exercise, becsaue when she sleeps there are other things to do. But at 5 months PP, I am fitting into my old clothes and I think my stomach is pretty darn flat! I really just stayed true to eatting healthy.

Re: About the post baby belly

I was really obsessed about losing the weight right away, but its not that easy, or at least not for me. I admit that i don't exercise like i shoudld be but i do eat very healthy and even started weight watchers and unfortanetley at 12 weeks pp i still have to lose 7 more lbs. NONE of my prepregancy clothes fit. I go back to work next week and it looks like i will have to buy bigger clothes over the weekend. I was really hoping that by now my old cloths would fit.

The line on my stomach is still really dark..not very attractive.

Re: About the post baby belly

My daughter will be 11 wks tomorrow (3 months on 9/10) and I still have the dark line, my belly button looks nothing like it used to and I still have a bit of a pot. Not sure how long it will take for the line to go away...some people say 3 months, some say 6.

At almost 22 weeks pp my line is almost gone and the wrinkling around the belly button has been gone for a really long time. My stomach doesn't look to much different as far as the skin goes...I just have a lot of extra weight all over. If I was to diet and excercise it would go away but i'm to lazy and love my junk foodChat Icon

I don't know about the rest, but I did go back to swimming at 6 weeks postpartum. (And I was hospitalized for the first 2 weeks, so it was quick.) Every woman is different. Chat Icon
