My lawyer called and said we need a new survey for our home that we are about to purchase. Is this normal? She also said it would cost 650!!! Thanks!

yes, it is normal. As for the fee, it depends. Tuesday I'll know exactly how much our title was.

I think getting a survey done might be in your best interest. Our sellers had a recent one (in the last 10 years) and my lawyer was satisfied with it, but he was not satisfied with another house that we put an offer on.

We had to have a new survey done as well. It is pretty common. That was about right for the fee.

We didn't need one because there was one from 1990 when the sellers bought the property. The fee is about right. THere probably hasn't been a survey done on the house in a long time or one can't be found and the bank is requiring it or your attorney is requiring it so that it is clear that your neighbors aren't encroaching on your property. It is a good thing. Unfortunately it is an unforseen fee because it doesn't happen on every sale but in the end it will be beneficial.

We had a new survey done - I think the cost they told us was $500. It's very important to get one done.

Yes, it's normal depending on when the last survey was done on the house.
It also depends on the Town, tho, too.
