We just got a 10,000 BTU LG and it works great and very quiet. it's just a b!tch to put together. the manual is horrible. dont read it, and figure it out on your own.

You have to measure your room size and figure out how many BTU's you need.
If you dont have a powerful enough AC, its not going to do anything.

I have goldsmith. It comes with a remote control as well, I think most do now a days. I have no complaints, we have two (5000 btu's) in our 800 sf apartment and it cools the entire place.

I have a fredrich & we love it. We bought it at PC Richards last year and it is so quiet. We are about to buy 2 more one for each of our bedrooms

Also, decide if you want a remote and/or digital controls. I have digital controls for our bedroom units so I can program "76 degrees". The non-digital ones are "Cold", "Coldest", etc.... at 9pm, it feels great...... at 3am, you're freezing.

lol we have the same problem with the one in our bedroom... in our living room we have a frigidare and are happy with it BUT do think that it is a little loud

agree. we only buy friedrich.
in fact, for in the future when you need to replace it, friedrich cases are standard size so you don't have to worry about getting a new one to fit in the old slot.
