Accupuncture?
Has anyone seen an accupuncturist for fertility help? I saw one in March, because I had a cupon...and it turns out I was already pg, so I didn't go back.
Now I think I will return -- he also told me I had some liver or kidney issues (which can be a reason for high cholesterol). I figure it brought me good luck last time, I'll try anything. He told me he had helped quite a few women with fertility. My friend also started to see an accupuncturist just before she started IUI...and the IUI worked on the first shot so she stopped going. She is due Oct. 8!! And she is my age too!

Re: Accupuncture?
It's supposed to really help alot with fertility issues especially mine which is FSH. There is one center in NYC that actually works with an IVF clinic. I'm looking into but so far the one in NYC is $250 a visit
Good luck!

I thought about it. There is someone in the practice I go to that does it. DH thinks Im crazy and getting too neurotic over it.

I was going to ask the same question! I have an appointment with the person my RE's office recommended on Friday evening, so I'll let you know how it goes. I figure it can't hurt , right?

I have am apointment with Andrea Huggler. I'm not sure yet if insurance covers it, but the initial visit is $65, so I guess I can swing that.

Re: Accupuncture?
I go every friday at noon to my appointment which costs me $75. The first time I went I wasn't crazy about it, but it is growing on me.

Re: Accupuncture?
I have an ex who's a doctor of Chinese medicine (he studied in Shanghai, he's 11 years older than me so he's been practicing for about 20 years) and last I knew he practiced in Mineola. He wasn't the greatest boyfriend but he was an excellent doctor. I definitely believe it could help.
I have been highly irregular in my cycles for years now. He put me on two herbs that regulated me like clockwork. I do remember that you can't take them if you think you might be preggos. I stopped taking the herbs when we broke up. I'm sure accupuncture could help too. Keep in mind though, not everyone has the same reaction to the same number of treatments. It's like with any medicine some people need more of a "dose" than others.
I'm definitely a believer. He cured my siatica (sp?). Chinese medicine is over 5,000 years old while most of our medical knowledge is only a few hundred.

Re: Accupuncture?
The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis is a great book regarding acupuncture. I am definitely going to start going myself...if nothing else, it increases blood flow and de-stresses you. The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness is an acupuncture center in Manhattan that was featured on Regis and Kathy Lee. Randine Lewis also recommends them.
Kara,
Did you go to Golden Tiger Acupuncture in Oceanside ? I live very close and I am always wondering about that place when I drive by. Any information you can share about it, I would greatly appreciate :)

Re: Accupuncture?
Redstar (can we know your real name already??? I feel weird calling you this!!) --
I don't think it is the same place. This guy is right off Long Beach Rd. and shares space with a chiropractor who actually has "top billing". His name is Costantine Sarikas.
I made an apt. for Monday at 6pm -- $75 also but I think he has some special package deals!
And I have no idea if insurance will cover it but I doubt it. Oh well, I can afford it since I don't have to buy diaper yet!!!

Re: Accupuncture?
Go to the "My Family" link on the top of the page, then on the left hand menu there will be a link that says "My Profile" and you can put your name in there if you want.

Re: Accupuncture?
I have a friend who was trying "naturally" for around 20 months. Someone gave her an article about someone who had several miscarriages and was having a lot of trouble becoming and staying pregnant. Well, lo and behold, my friend went for acupuncture and became pregnat that cycle following her appointment. She now has a 10 month old girl. I guess it couldn't hurt to try it!
