Acupuncture anyone??

I have been thinking of doing this. My RE offers it, but not paid for by insurance.
After seeing Deb. go through it and getting her BFP, makes me want to do it even more.
DH thinks Im crazy for this.
My place offers it and it is $125 for a consult fee and $85 persession. IVF patients get a 20% discount.
Have any of you girls thought of doing this??
DH thinks its a waste of $$. I may just tell him isurance covers itChat Icon

Re: Acupuncture anyone??

DEFINITELY do it!!!!

I started acupuncture after my second cycle (recommended by Dr Kreiner), and saw a definite improvement.

Who are they recommending?

Not to steal your thread...but Lisa, your avatar is hilarious!!!!

I would try it, only if you have the $$$ though. I have heard a lot of good things about it. Just look at Deb!!!
We are not daring to spend the $$$ right now though, between the RE and a new houseChat Icon

Re: Acupuncture anyone??

Lisa, I dont know her name. She is on Dr. Kreiner's website.
I want to do it right away. I read it is recommended before and after the tranfer.
It will probaby cost $65 a session with the discount. I think I will do it. I just wish I didnt have to pay the consult. fee

Re: Acupuncture anyone??

I cant tell you how many articles I have read about the increase in success rates of IVF when using acupuncture...If I had the extra money I would do it in a heart beat.

I think you should look into it. Just remember its not a quick fix, it takes a few months they say.

GOOD LUCK

I went for me first accupuncture visit last night, Actually, it was mostly a consultation and a diagnosis session. I'll be going once a week until the time of transfer, which should be the end of September. I left feeling very positive, something I haven't felt in a long time. I really feel this wil make a difference.

Re: Acupuncture anyone??

My best friend was starting accupuncture just before her first IUI, thinking she would have to try many times - and she got pg on the first injection, and is now 7 months along.

I went ONCE in March -- and either I was pregnant already or got pg that same week.

Just think how much $$ you wil be spending on diapers and baby food per week and how much the sessions cost, and it should work out as a real deal!!

I think accupuncture, no matter what you believe, at the very least is proven to stimulate circulation which increases your overall health and therefore your reporoductive system. I think it goes much deeper than that, but this is what I tell non-believers.

Re: Acupuncture anyone??

After Deb's BFP....I am considering this also. My insurance covers it....but DH thinks I'm nuts. At this point though...I'm willing to try anything. I am having a laparoscopy next week, so I think I will start after that's over.

Re: Acupuncture anyone??

I think its definitely worth it..I did it throughout my IVF cycle, once a week and it made me very relaxed ..and I ended up with a POSITIVE at the end..not to say thats the reason why..however I do think it helped in its own way...your body is more relaxed to accept things and even your mind becomes more at ease..its a very soothing experience..

$65 I would say is a about right for a session..thats what I paid..let me know if you want info on the person I used in Port Jeff..

Re: Acupuncture anyone??

Well, DH told me to go ahead and do it.
As soon as I get back from the Jersey Shore on Tuesday Im making an appointment.
My RE is about $65 with the IVF discount.
It goes up when they do a session before your retrievel and transfer. Not sure why. Im going to ask when I call for my consult.

Re: Acupuncture anyone??

We talked about it as well this weekend. We've had 4 unsuccessful months and with school starting back up again my stress will increase and I'll be running around more. DH is all for it. Yes, the money is an issue as we are getting a new house but the way I see it we have no choice... we are 34 (35 Oct 1) and 37.

I haven't started seeing an RE yet.

Do any of you have the address and phone numbers of good accupuncturists on the island?

I'm in East Northport but will travel if I really have to.

Thanks.

i just recently started and after every session i do feel much much better. as sharon has said "left feeling very positive."

my doctor isn't charging me so much and with every visit / consultation it's the same price which is $30. i go 2x a week. my doctor also gives me herbal meds which i have to be religious with every morn and evening. and they cost $160 - i believe. i see a lot of non-asians in his office also and i've talked to them and they praise Dr Lu. that made me feel confident in the practice. so therefore, go for it! it can only help. good luck to you.

Dr. Li in Huntington (they also have offices in Smithtown and Flushing). He's a PhD in the US and an MD in China, so a lot of insurances cover it if you go there. His website is mdacupuncture.net.
