I have been seeing this house on the market for about 9 months now. It was origionally listed at over 350. Now while its not the best looking inside its not bad. I drove by it agian on saturday and the top step was all messed up and the bricks were falling off of it. The lawn was overgronwn etc. A car pulls up next to me and ait was the neighbor. He tells me th house has been empty for a good yera or so. I said well they are asking 320.. he said I have heard you can get iot for less but its a mess. he said that the kitchen and bathrooms all have t be redone.. now agian while they look old they look liveable. HE said somethign about the basement being a mess( no pics of that).

Anyone know abot thsi area? its right off Merrick road and there is an aprtment buildingon teh corner. Its lynbrook schools which I knwo are very good. Any thoughts?

If you have the money to do renovations and any repairs then I say go for it. I would at least call the RE to show it to you so you can see it for yourself.

looks great to me! totally liveable. but you see you are paying 320,000.00, only full price offers.

The area is nice - I know exactly the house you are looking at. However, it does need an extensive amount of work and I'm not sure what else would come out of the inspection. It is in Lynbrook school district. But it cant hurt to look.

My friend lives 2 blocks from there. It is an excellent area. Very family orientated and it is Lynbrook Schools. $320k is a great price for that house even though it needs work. It does look old in the kitchens and bathrooms but it also looks very clean...I would not hesitate to look at it.

I think the price is low because the taxes are over $10,000 and right now that is a hard sell. Especially since they just seem to be going up and up over here

It is a nice area and close to everything. I would go check it out but be aware of the taxes.

Taxes are VERY high plus it needs two new baths and a kitchen. I would take a pass (even at that price).

those are REALLY REALLY high taxes for what you are getting! looks like the house has potential but if you aren't tied to that area i would keep looking. jmho

Yes Lynbrook is a village and the village taxes are usually High. I grew up in Lynbrook and remember my dad always complaining about the village taxes. They would keep going up every year....and there is nothing you can do about it.....In 2004 my dad was paying $9200 in taxes, now the new owners are paying over $11500 in taxes.....Its crazy.

I would take a look at the house, but probably wouldnt buy it. It is good to look anyway, because then you can see what you want and dont want in a home.

I grew up about three blocks from there as well. My parents are still there and are paying taxes out the arse, but they would never move. Lynbrook schools are good, and the area is really nice but you will probably have to put a bit of tlc into it. But if you've got kids or are thinking about it, its a super area. let me know if you have any questions!

My stepdaughter lives near Hendrickson & has attended Lynbrook Schools her whole life(she's in high school now). The district is very good and has lots of great music & art services, there are some pros and cons to west end & north both being so small.
The taxes there seem totally nuts to me, but I'm a suffolk county girl.
We have friends in Lynbrook south of sunrise that live in the same style house you posted, its a very expandable layout. The house you posted was for sale before last year with a different realtor, price & different pictures I'm pretty sure, I remember the listing.
It looks like you will need to spend over 50k just to get that house livable, there are other homes around 399 & in the low 400's in lynbrook now that might be a better buy.

We are looking in Lynbrook SD as well so I've seen that house for months like you. However, we would not consider anything in the immediate West End. Possibly something border West End / Westwood but that particular house is just a few off of Merrick and the backyard backs up to the junior high school.

It's not a bad area, per se, but it is the least desirable area of Lynbrook (which is why those houses go for so much less).

i am in Lynbrook as well, but I am very south. South of Sunrise Hwy. I was told when we were looking a few years ago that area where the house you are looking at was not the most desirable area in Lynbrook.

My gf was hell bent on buying in lynbrook, cause of the schools. But couldnt find anyhting in price range, so she ended up buying in east rockaway, shes very happy with her decision.

No not all we dont have to have LYnbrook.Actually i am just looking right now but not seriously not until early next year.

I believe some of East rockaway is Lynbrook schools also
