Adding more elastic waistband to pants/shorts...

Has anyone done this? I can't take my tight pants anymore. I don't want them to hurt the baby. I have some cropped and capri denim shorts/pants and the legs fit and all, but the waistband is just too tight. I definitely need a larger size, but JCPenney doesn't have any in the store nor online. Chat Icon The only other thing I can think of is adding some elastic to the belly panels that I already have. Has this worked for anyone? I really want to get larger sizes, but can't find them. It might not look pretty, but you don't see it anyway. Any thoughts? My mom said she can try it. Thanks!

I haven't done this, but I have a friend that swears by using a rubberband on pants that fit everywhere but the waist. It gives at least an extra inch or two depending on the size of the rubberband. Good luck!!

When this happened to me I gladly switched to maternity pants with the panel waist. They were a little bit big at first but I grew into them and they are the most comfortable things I've ever worn LOL

Even now, 7 wks PP I wear my maternity pants with the panel becuase well, I still have 25 lbs to lose but also I a, so sore from the c/s still and cant wear pants with a zipper and button.

Isn't there some type of elastic band that you can put over your waist and you can keep your pants unbuttoned?

I'm talking about maternity pants. I'm almost 27 weeks PG so I haven't been able to wear regular pants for a while now. I was just wondering if anyone has added the material to the belly parts of the maternity pants. I can't afford new pants, and I can't find any so I thought I could just add the material to make the belly stretch more. The rest of the pants fit fine. It's just that the waistband is too tight on me when I'm sitting. Chat Icon

Yes, the belly band. this is what I used...at least until it was way too uncomfortable to even have regular pants on because they started to get so snug on my hips that the pants would dig into my stomach.

I don't have any suggestions but I know how you feel. A few weeks ago all of my original maternity clothes were getting tight in the tummy area so I went out and purchased 2 pairs of XL maternity shorts. They are big on me now, but so comfy because its so hot out. Plus I still have 9 weeks to go.

I know you said you don't want to buy more, but how about your DH? Any of his shorts fit you? At least you can be comfy around the houes?

No... his shorts don't fit me. I'm 5'5" and he's 6'4". Chat Icon

I'm just not having any luck I guess. Chat Icon I live in NC and it's already been hot and the summer is only going to get worse. I don't know what to do? Chat Icon Chat Icon

The Bella band or Belly Band are terrific just to give you some more room. I use the Bella Bands and I'm soooo comfortable. I can leave my pants open with the the band and no one needs to know except me.Chat Icon I have a black one and a white one which basically looks like I'm wearing a tank top under my shirt.

Those bands only work with regular clothing though, not with maternity pants that have a band built in already? Chat Icon

How about some less expensive stores. Just buy yourself a couple of pairs. Fashion Bug has maternity. Some Marshalls, Walmart

my last week of pregnancy, I had to wear DH's shorts (40!) with a hairtie around the button hole and button...and I was a size 10 pre-preggo!
