Adventures in Puppy Parenthood! Part Deux.
Hello boys and girls! Today's lesson in puppy parenthood is:
Why you should make sure your 9 month old puppy has done his business before letting him up on your bed for the night!
Yes, you may have guessed today's topic from the title. If you need it spelled out: Arnold pooped and peed on our bed last night!! Yay for Jenn and her hubby.
Picture it: I'm getting ready for bed and he wants to come up with me. Ok, so I take him upstairs and promptly put him on the bed. This is his usual spot and normally is QUITE content to be there watching me do my thing. Well last night I had a few things to do and so I ran downstairs for a SECOND. I swear, just a SECOND!! But that's all it took. I guess he had to go and I wasn't there to get him off the bed (he's too small to do it himself) and bring him downstairs (doesn't matter, even if he could get off the bed himself he still can't do our steps!).
At any rate, this has been a major concern of my husbands and last night it came to fruition. I get upstairs (that SECOND later) and there's my little guy pacing, knowing he did something wrong. I felt bad for all parties involved. I felt bad for Arnie b/c he knew he did something wrong, though he couldn't help it. I felt bad for me b/c now I had to clean it up and I felt bad for my husband b/c he did it on HIS side of the bed!
So long story longer, I cleaned up the mess, stipped the bed and put it all in the wash. Luckily he only went on the top of the comforter so the bed itself was not soiled but we have a down comforter so now I have to take it to the dry cleaner and have it cleaned!
Luckily, we have a spare bedroom with the same sized bed so I took that down comforter off and put it on our bed with some clean sheets.
All in all, this was NOT something I wanted to be doing at midnight.
So lesson learned. Make sure you little puppy has done his business before taking him upstairs for the night!!!!
Good grief, it's a good thing he's so stinkin' cute!!!
'Til our next adventure!

Re: Adventures in Puppy Parenthood! Part Deux.
I know, it IS funny, so please laugh away at my expense. It was through my own stupidity that I brought him up there w/o making sure he went to the bathroom and so I paid the consequence.
Naturally, I couldn't yell at him or anything. I just brought him downstairs so that I could change the bedding.
Of course, sure a death and taxes, I brought him right back upstairs when I was finished and he slept with us anyway!!
I know, I'm glutton for punishment, but I just can't help it!!!

Daisy did the same thing - she peed all over our guest bed after my parents left town (obviously she was upset by them leaving). Just say no, bad girl/boy and then clean everything up and let them know they're still loved!
You'll look back at these stories in a year or so Jennie and just laugh - as they get older, they learn, and so do you!

Katie peed on me in bed. That was fun. Pyxie peed on DH head once when he did not wake up to walk her.
We've all been there

Ah Jennie - welcome to the puppy club.
Lilly never did that, but I can totally sympathize with you.
(go check your regular e-mail, btw!)

I feel so bad bc we didn't warn you, but there's no fun in that, you really need to learn these things on your own the way we all did!!
