advice needed

DH and I are going on a short 3 day 2 night cruise that we won. The company arranged our airfare and they have us flying down from ny to memphis to ft lauderdale the day before the cruise. We are renting a car and spending the night at my aunt who lives about 1 1/2 hours away from the airport and cruise pier.
We get back to the pier on Friday at around 9am and we dont have a flight until 4 that afternoon. We already called to see if we could change the flight and we cant. We are looking to see what we could do that would be cheap and how we should get ourselves around with our luggage. Like do we take a cab to a movie theater and take all of our stuff with us to the movies?

Can you go to the airport and check in your luggage and then take a cab or a shuttle from there to go somewhere?

I'm just thinking that if you get rid of your luggage then it will be easier to get around. I would look into it and see if there are shuttles or something from the airport to the beach area or downtown where you can wander around until you have to get back to the airport. Then you just have to go through security and board the plane.

BTW...very cool that you won a cruise!

Would you want to rent a car at a cheap rate for those hours and throw your luggage in the trunk? Tour the area a little?
