ADVICE NEEDED ASAP PLEASE
I got an email asking if I wanted to interview for a leave replacement in a GREAT school district.
It would be September to June. I already have a probationary in Queens. It will be year two for me.
What do I do? Do you leave a full time job for a leave replacement? Is that crazy?
HELP!!
THANKS

Re: ADVICE NEEDED ASAP PLEASE
oh goodness, that sounds like a tough call
I would say, go on the interview, see how it goes, and then go with your gut.
If it's a district that's closer to home, and you may eventually get in (fingers crossed!) it might be worth a shot.
But you have to weigh the pros and cons yourself and make the best decision for you.
Good luck !! That's a good problem to have

Re: ADVICE NEEDED ASAP PLEASE
Go on the interview! There should be no question about that. There's absolutely NOTHING to lose in just going on the interview - in fact, there's only to gain.
If you get offered the position, *then* you have something to think about. (and then I would highly recommend taking the position - sometimes you just have to take 'risks' in life to get where you want)
Good luck!!!

Re: ADVICE NEEDED ASAP PLEASE
I was in a similar position two years ago. I was offered a probationary position in Queens and soon after the district I had been working in as a TA offered me a full year LR. I took it because the commute to Queens would have been rough. I had another full year leave this past year, but now I have nothing. A lot of teachers came back from maternity leave and I was told I could go back to my TA position. Although they gave jobs to teachers that just graduated and teachers that are related to administrators. I found out my district has a reputation for getting rid of great teachers for no reason. It happened to a bunch of us this year. This is definitely not the best district though. Many tenured teachers want to leave. I would still go on the interview If I was you and find out all you can about the district. If the district is good one this could be a great opportunity for you. Best of luck!
