Advice needed regarding feeding
We've have our 3 1/2 week old on a "schedule", every 3 1/2 to 4 hrs we feed him 4 ozs. He seemed to be content with that, but I am thinking maybe he is going thru a growth spurt and wants more.
Long story short--
10pm 5 ozs for the first time (DH and I decided jointly to let him sleep)
3am 3ozs then a "big" spit up and finished the last 1 oz
7am 4ozs
1pm 3 1/2 ozs.
Should we just up it to feeding him every 3 hrs?
This increases his intake from arouns 20-21 ozs per day to 24-25 ozs per day. Is that too much for a 3 1/2 week old??
TIA!!

Re: Advice needed regarding feeding
My 3 week old has been feeding every 3 hrs-- 4 oz at a shot
There have been 2 nights where he went for 6 hrs without a feeding
The daily total of oz has ranged from 26-28 for him
I was thinking of asking the dr if i should give him more than 4 oz, but he seems satisfied with it
The only thing I am not sure if I should contineue allowing is that 6 hr time period

Re: Advice needed regarding feeding
My DS was drinking around the same at 3 wks, sometimes more and sometimes less. At night he always went longer between feedings. IMO you shouldnt wake a baby to eat. They will let you know when they are hungry. There sleep is just as important for them.

Allow it and enjoy it! He will wake you if he is hungry!
