Advice on breaking the swaddle.........

At what age did you stop swaddling?

How did your DC take it?

I'm pretty scared, we slept at my mom's one night and forgot it and let's just say that I made do with a jersey crib sheet and it wasn't pretty.......

Re: Advice on breaking the swaddle.........

I think u know, but I will tell u anyway

We used/loved/couldnt live without the Miracle Blanket until he was 5 months

Then I started using the Halo Sleep saks...I was so frightened I would never sleep again

But DS was fine..I think maybe since the startle reflux was gone by then

stupid question but is the miracle blanket the same as the Swaddle Me?
And I have a bunch of sleep sacks, I might try them, but Gavin flails his arms a lot, that's what ultimately keeps him up......

The Miracle Blanket is not the same as the Swaddle Me- It has arm things that hold the arms down and it is more secure than the swaddle--You can use mine if you want

With my first, one night at about 4.5 months she just yelled and yelled until we took her out of the swaddle and then she fell asleep without it. So she let us know she was ready.

Re: Advice on breaking the swaddle.........

I used the miracle blanket, it's a little different than the swaddle me (basically the miracle blanket holds their arms down with fabric flaps.

We weaned her at 6 months old when she was breaking out of it and still sleeping all night long. We put her into the Halo sleep sak. We had one night of a little fussing, but that's it.

Re: Advice on breaking the swaddle.........

I think it depends on how big he is. I believe Jack was breaking out of the Miracle Blanket around 16lbs or so. The Miracle Blanket def. works better then the Swaddle Me. Has a much tighter grip on them IMO.

I put him into regular pjs next....not so much fun. A few nights later I got the SleepSack - and all has been good since! Chat Icon

OK, 2 comments on the Miracle Blanket...

1-Gavin will kill me if I start with that thing
2-DH can't even use the swaddle me properly, his head would explode if I even showed him that thing. I would probably find Gavin tied in a bow to the side of the crib........

The few times I asked DH to give me a break and put him in it - I would come up and sometihng would be completely off. I do think it was made for moms only! Chat Icon

How old is Gavin now? My parents used to think we were torturing Jack with it - but they saw the second I put his first arm in the flap he would start to smile! He loved it!

He'll be 4 months tomorrow!! Chat Icon

He loves the swaddle, so Iwas thinking to try to keep him in that as long as possible and then switch to the sleep sacks.....
It has to be on a night where DH is doing the morning feeding though....maybe next week!!!

Ok, at four months - I think you should def. move onto the SleepSacks. No need to get him used to something else - just to torture yourself in a month or so when he breaks out of it. Use the Swaddle Me's for as long as you can and by then his little arms won't flail so much at night.
