Advice on buying a Desktop computer
What brand do you think makes the best Desktop computer for under $600?
I am looking into getting an E machine. My friend who fixes computers, says this is the best for what I am going to do with it.
Does anyone have a newer emachinne here?

Well, I was going to say Dell, there's really no others I would consider.

then i would research your computers systems....
all computers are the same (different parts) along with the Operating System being the same...what matters is how its used....

Dell, always for me. I've worked on hundreds of systems, easiest and best to deal with by far is Dell.

yup - but b/c of the great brand recognition, they kept the Compaq name.

Re: Advice on buying a Desktop computer
I would say NO to Compaq...
Dell has great deals, but there is hassle involved.
I've had the best luck with quality and customer service with Gateway and Apple, both of which are more expensive, but try gateway, they may have some deals
