Advice please - D&C or wait to miscarry naturally
Went for a sono last week at 7 weeks. They only saw a yoke sac, no fetal pole. Had another sono today at 8 weeks and still no heartbeat. The doctor said based on my hormone levels there should definitely be a heartbeat now so the pregnancy is not viable. I am going to the office tomorrow for more bloodwork to see if the levels are decreasing and to talk to the doctor. Based on your experience, would you advise someone to get a D&C or wait to miscarry naturally? Also, what questions should I ask the doctor? I'm so numb I can't even think straight right now. TIA

There really isn't much there.. If you don't have a d&c, it's likely it will reabsorb into your body. From my experience, the biggest thing is a d&c you know it's out and can probably start over sooner. If you wait, there's more waiting...
For me, after my last d&c it took my body a LONNNNG TIMMMME for my body to repair itself and for my lining to rebuild. That's not common but possible... I would avoid a d&c whenever possible, but ultimate do what you are comfortable with and what your doctor recommends.

I'm sorry for your loss. If its possible I think naturally is the best way to go if you can. Sometimes our bodies don't listen and it might be the only way. Again I'm so sorry.i hope you find answers soon.

I agree with naturally. I lost twins @ 7w5d and it wasnt my first loss, so they had me get a d&c so the could test for genetic abnormality. Unless youre doing it for that reason, or some other, I would opt for natural. Im sorry for your loss.

Re: Advice please - D&C or wait to miscarry naturally
I'm so sorry. My OB had said it was best to miscarry naturally because every D&C leaves scar tissue on your uterus, making it more difficult for a fetus to implant. My OB gave me the choice of what I wanted to do. My miscarriage happened over 4 weeks where I went week after week for sonos and the baby was hanging on but was not doing well. Then the baby finally had no heartbeat and it was declared a miscarriage. After four weeks of going through hell, I just needed it to be over so I could move on and I told her I wanted a D&C. It was scheduled for Tuesday but I miscarried naturally on Sunday. I'm glad I did do it naturally. It was heavy, intense cramps and (sorry if this is too graphic) I passed the baby whole, not bits of tissue. I went to the bathroom and it just came out. Emotionally that part was hard but still glad I didn't have a D&C. Good luck with whatever you decide. Sorry again for your loss.

Me personally I would wait to misscarry, which can take a while. It was 3.5 weeks after they confirmed my pregnancy was not viable before I actually miscarried.

Advice please - D&C or wait to miscarry naturally
Same thing happened to me but about 1-week later (went in at 8 weeks and then again at 9) I decided to wait it out 1 week and if it didn't happen I would schedule the D&C.. which I did... but then it happened naturally at home a few days before I was going to go in. I was happy it happened at home- luckily it was on a Sunday so I wasn't at work, and the pain only lasted a couple hours. Once it was over I was ok... just emotionally drained.
Everyone is different. I would say to try to wait until it happens naturally. But you don't want to wait too long because you have the risk of infection.
So sorry for your loss!
hugs

Advice please - D&C or wait to miscarry naturally
Sorry to crash, but I am really curious for those of you who have experienced this. I've been LIGHTLY spotting since last Wednesday (it's Tuesday), and the spotting has all but disappeared - my blood work has confirmed that the pregnancy didn't take (my levels dropped from Wednesday to Friday). I was 5/6 weeks, in your experience is this stoppage of spotting normal?
