AF question for BF moms...

I am 4 mo pp and EBF and still haven't gotten AF. However, on christmas day I started spotting - mostly it was just when i wiped - sorry for the tmi Chat Icon Chat Icon and also a little spotting on the pad. I fully expected to get a regular AF but the spotting pretty much completely stopped as of today and had almost stopped yesterday...it was always pink and never that red color. What is this? Is this normal? TIA Chat Icon

I EBF and didn't get AF until 6 months PP. I don't remember any spotting beforehand.

Re: AF question for BF moms...

Once the PP bleeding for me stopped I didn't spot or anything till AF came. Are you 100% sure nothing is coming. Maybe it's pre pre AF? If not I would check it out. Sure your not pregnant again?

Re: AF question for BF moms...

I had spotting at 2 months PP for 1 day. I thought it was AF. It was not and it was just for 1 day.

I actually got AF back at 5 months PP.

Re: AF question for BF moms...

Im 3 months PP and Chat Icon , but lately i havent been EBF, since going back to work i had to give DD formula occasionally, my supply is dropping. Im hoping once i get the tea someone posted about on here and start the fengruk (however spelt), my supply will go up and not have to worry about formula..

oh yeah well anyway, Chat Icon and i think it should be coming soon, my hair has been falling out.

Re: AF question for BF moms...

My doc told me it is considered normal if you do not get AF for the length of time you BF'd times 2.
If you BF'd for 4 months it could be 8 months before you get AF.

That is insane... I don't know where they would get that from?? I EBF Chat Icon for 2 1/2 years and got AF back at 7 months, EBFChat Icon #1 for 18 months and got AF back at 13 months and am EBF Chat Icon #2 and he is 10 months and AF hasnt returned yet.

It's more about the length of nursing in relation to the amount of times a day. When your hormones drop to a certain level AF returns.

I was not saying that what My Doc said was the norm but rather that if you did not get AF for that amount of time, it is still in the realm of normal. I EBF for nine months and got AF 18 months PP. He said that is within the limits of Normal.
