Re: aflac insurance?
"maternity leave" is covered under short term disablity. I think it also depends on the city you live in on how much and if short term disability is avaialbe. I wish i would have thought of that when i was TTC or year before, it would have been a great help. Even if you are not TTC now, you may want to start paying into now so that you have more to draw out of.

Re: aflac insurance?
I called-AFLAC does cover pregnancy at 1/2 salary(i think) you have to have it for 10 months beofre it kicks in. My HR person wouldn't do it here You need 5 people to sign up and I had 5 sand she said what if you leave? Moron

Re: aflac insurance?
I signed up for AFLAC as soon as it was offered - this is going to be my lifesaver!!! As far as I have been told - it is covered under Short-Term Disability. You HAVE to be on the plan for more than 10 months to use the policy if it is for pregnancy (start now - you never know!). Under the plan I have, I was able to determine how much I would want to be paid out and therefore calculates how much to pay each week. You can get paid from AFLAC at the same time as disability.
I am getting 3/4 pay under regular disability. I figured what the other 1/4 would be to make up for my salary (you can go higher or lower and your premium will reflect that). So - long story short - I currently pay about $20 a month and will get back $800 a month!! Doesn't take a genuis to figure out the math on that one - WAYY WORTH IT!
If you (or anyone else reading this post) have questions - feel free to FM me. My AFLAC rep for work is really nice, so I can always call and ask her questions. Good luck and sign up soon!
