AFP results (Down Syndrome odds)

I'm 32 yrs old and just had my 16 week appt.

My AFP results were about 1:4000+

The doctor seemed unworried and my hubby and I don't really know what to think of this number.

Do you mind sharing yours?

ETA: my u/s results gave me 1:8000 my blood work was 1:279 so they gave me an overall average of 1:4000+

I have no idea what my numbers were but I was told that I had normal results.

YOur age is factored in to those results so for your age it may be good. I do not remember my results.

mine was over 10,000 (i'm 27 years old)

Mine was 1:270.

ETA: I was 37.

It means you have a 1 in 4000 chance of having a child with DS. Those numbers are very good.

At 33, my numbers were like 1:1300.

I am 35, and my results for this pregnancy were 1: 5,400.

I was 29 and my results were 1: over 10,000 for both kids.

There was a girl I was working with at work who was 30 and got results of 1:200 and everything was fine with her daughter.

I actually wanted to say no to this test, but did not realize when they took the blood that is was an option. I felt anything that might have resulted it would not matter to me, but they wound up giving me good results.

I'm 37. My results were 1 in 354 and well within the normal range for my age. That's about less than one third of one percent. Those numbers did not scare me.My odds are a lot higher than most posters here. I had my amnio for reasons not based on AFP or ultrascreen results and I am not particularly worried that some thing will be wrong.I just never wanted to second guess that I didn't do the right thing for myself and DH.

They didn't tell me the numbers over the phone but I was told they were excellent! When I go in a few days I will ask them for the numbers

I don't remember my specific numbers, I think it was like 1 in 5,000. I am 31. They told me that everything was great with the numbers.

i was never given my actual numbers but was told they were normal...

I was either 1:4,000 or 1:6,000. I realy don't remember, but they said these results were just fine.
