After your baby shower...

how to you start to organize? We have a room in our basement full of gifts & baskets. It is so overwhelming! We are still waiting for our furniture to arrive so I don't know what to do with all of the stuff!

Any suggestions on how to organize the baby's room?

sort the items out... so you can put away the stuff they arent going to use right away such as the bigger clothes, the jumper, exersaucer, high chair, gates...

I would just sort it out into the stuff you may need now and leave the rest packed away.

Re: After your baby shower...

We had a bris after DS was born, but what I did was - In the closet I sorted the clothing by size. In the top drawer of the changing table/dresser I put hats and bibs on the left side and socks on the right side, undershirts went into the middle. Clothing I hung up so I could see what I wanted to have him wear. On top of the changing table, next to the pad, I have a large basket. Inside the basket is the tub of wipes, a square box of tissues, 1/2 sleeve of diapers, lotions, brush, suction thingy, thermometer and vasiline. In the middle drawer of his dresser I had some clothing for easy access as well as towels and wash cloths. In the bottom drawer I had extra sheets and blankets. As for toys, some went into the closet others stayed out depending upon their size.

Re: After your baby shower...

We stored everything in the basement and grouped them into different categories. All of the things he won't need right now (like the convertible car seat, Peg stroller, etc) we put in the back. We put the rest of the gear we;ll need up front. It was easier once the furniture came in because then we could put the bedding on, put some clothes away, etc.

DS is 6 months old and I still have a pile of stuff in the basement.
