Air Travel Questions - bring the car seat, drugs on board?
Questions Questions Questions I’ll be flying out soon.
Can I rent a car seat from the rental in Hawaii? Do I need to bring my own? If I bring my own, do I check it as luggage or lug it to the gate? Should I pack a booster chair that attaches to normal chairs for use in the hotel room? Can I bring onto the plane, Benedryl and Tylenol? Any advice on keeping a 2yr old calm during take-off?
I’m thinking of using a whole suitcase just for her stuff. Checked Luggage: A sleeve of diapers (~50), a Large bottle of juice, lots of those gerber sticks, gerber meals, sippy cups, clothes, swim gear, nap sack, extra blankets, shampoo, bath toys, bath cloths, her towels, creams, lotions, clothes……………….. WHAT ELSE?
On the plane with us DVD player, 5 DVDs, Crayons, paper to draw, lots of apps on his phone and my itouch, blanket (lovie #1) Towelie (lovie #2), small pillow, sweater, 10 diapers, wipes, sippy cup, juice boxes, goldfish, cut up strawberries in Tupperware (???), cooked broccoli in Tupperware (???), tissues, books, small cars (gotta get some cheap somewhere), small airplanes (again need to find some cheapos), windup toys (???)………….. WHAT ELSE?
TIA

I say bring your own carseat if you are renting a car.
Do not bring a table booster.
Do not bring drugs for DC. You never know how they are going to react. I was told by my PED that they can fall asleep or get completely hyper. And JUST TO DEAL WITHOUT DRUGS. But bring drugs for you.

Re: Air Travel Questions - bring the car seat, drugs on board?
The drugs are not there to make her calm!!!
She has allergies. She gets meds twice a day. Just this weekend she went out with my uncle and got bit to death with mesquitos. Who knew they liked 70 degree temps. So the treatment is Benedryl orally twice a day with tylenol throughout the day as well as topical creme and neosporin.
She scratches the bites which tears them open and they bleed and get infected which itch and its a vicious cycle. Right now her both knees look like they've blown up. The swelling is reduced with the tylenol and the benedryl (orally) reduces the cause of the itch while the topical version gives instant soothing.
My kid has skin issues, what can I say?
The flight home is 14hrs long!!! Well past the time of her next antihistime dose. Which is why I asked, can I take it on the flight?

When we flew with DS in October (He was a little over 2.5) to keep him occupied we took: Wikki Stixs
Stickers Lollipops (for his ears & because the keep him occupied for extended periods of time) Books Crayons/coloring books Flashcards Lots of snacks Ipad
On our flight going down we had TVs in the head rests in front of us! It was PERFECT $8.00 for a bunch of kids shows/channels. However on the way back our plane did not have the TV's and that was a NIGHTMARE trying to explain to him!
We rented a carseat with the car rental company and I could not have been happier! One less thing to carry/lug around!! They had tons of carseats for us to choose from and they were all professionally cleaned after each use in a sealed bag!
I am assuming you can bring the tylenol and benadryl on with you as long as its not over the oz. allowed. We took 2 fulls juice cups on with us both ways.

Lollipops... I totally forgot she likes those..
I think I'll create a snack package. Marshmellows (another fav) ONE lollipop (dum dum small) gold fish and green apple jacks. Keep it all in a single zippy so she knows there's not some over abundance of them. If she thinks there's a supply, she'll ask for more. But if she finishes it and we say "all gone" she's USUALLY good about moving on.

Bring your own If I bring my own, do I check it as luggage or lug it to the gate?
Do you think she'd want to sit in it on the plane? I am not sure if she's a lap child or not.
Should I pack a booster chair that attaches to normal chairs for use in the hotel room?
No Can I bring onto the plane, Benedryl and Tylenol?
Yes, you can. Any advice on keeping a 2yr old calm during take-off?
As for the list of things you are packing, could you make it easier and pack a small amount and buy things when you get there? I believe you are going to Hawaii - things are traditionally more expensive there but, with what you have to pay to check luggage nowadays, and there is a Walmart on every island to get necessities for reasonable prices.

Re: Air Travel Questions - bring the car seat, drugs on board?
Hrm.. never thought about Walmart. Still going to have to pack it home. I'll have to keep that in mind.
THANKS.
She's got her own seat she's over 2. I thought that a car seat would be uncomfortable given the amount of time on the flight, plus with her, and at least a diaper bag, carry on bag and a laptop bag, carrying a carseat at layovers is going to be a hassle.
We Xfer in DFW and LAX - going and just DFW coming back
