airline prices
My family go to FLorida every CHristmas vacation ( DH and I are both teachers). I have never seen prices for plane tickets so high. It is crazy. Airlines are asking a minimum of 435.00 per ticket. We are a family of 4 - that is over $ 2000 for 4 tickets to Florida.
I dont want to deprive my children from visitng Grandma and Grandpa. We might drive instead 
I usually get tickets for 1200 for the 4 of us.

sometimes if you play around with the dates a bit you get a better fare. last year there was a $100 difference for my mother to come up from FL on the 24th instead of the 23rd. It might not be ideal but for four people that's a big price difference.

Our thanksgiving tickets were
$800 each NY to FL
I bought them in July
They are actually cheaper now
The fights aren't even full
The flight coming back is one I always take and last year it was sold out - I have been on it in may and it's been full and it's now 2 weeks before

Def check out Spirit. I just looked for you and around Christmas time out of LGA and going to FLL it came to $1200 for 4 tix.
