Airport Security - what was a checked for?
I just came back from a trip and I went throught a different kind of check at airport security.
I did the normal taking off my shoes, put all my stuff in the plastic totes and put them through scanner.
But I was also randomly (I think) selected to stand in a glass booth, and then it had a couple of short bursts of air shoot at me.
It was no big deal really, but I've never seen it before. I have no idea what I was being tested for.
Anyone do this before or know what the heck it was.

I've been through that machine a few times -- it's so weird!
It can detect traces of explosives.

I had that done in Vegas. Definitely looking for explosives.

yup- checking for traces of explosive powder. DH works for the army as a weapons design engineer, and whenever he goes on travel to a test range, he has to carry something that says where he was in case he gets randomly selected for this... crazy, huh??

Wow. I had no idea!
I figured it was a check for something dangerous, but I wouldn't have known it was for explosives.
