AJ's Alpha Projects : D is for Day, Door, Dark craft (oh Ny55angel, here ya go)
Not 100% done as envisioned. I wanted to have her paint some flowers (she draws green sticks, circles than dots) and to paint the other sides of the box, but I'm not home tomorrow night and since its due Friday morning, it may not happen.
Still fun project.
Box - a coworker had a cell phone delivered, I took the box. It opens from the sides only, but I don't care.
Unchild like tools: Exacto Knife and thumb tack. I cut out the 'door' and scored the forth side for a 'fold'. Hubby clipped off the pointy part of the tack with some wire cutters.
Otherwise its fairly simple.
Used acrylic paint this time (scary) but it works so much better on cardboard.
She and I had fun painting the inside all black, as I explained it was 'dark' and what do we know about dark? Lights make it better and the moon is out.
Then painted the outside blue and green for the grass. She helped fill in the sun and add dots. and it was 'day'
She painted the door as well. She picked her color of course. same for the 'door knob'.
I cut out four squares in her colors then we glued them on for 'panels'. Hot glued her tack on and added sticker letters. She helped (which is why Dark is on a black construction paper cut out first).
She put a 'moon' and light bulb in the DARK but I'm not a fan of them being so close, but its her project.
Hopefully tomorrow (Thursday) we can add the last paint pieces.
Fun stuff... here ya go:

I don't know. I know one mom gave me a run for my money last year. For F she made a farm out of a shoe box. I may steal that this year. I made a feathered fan. LOL She and I laugh it off.
A was odd. Jim went and found out a kid brought a 'rock' The rock was an Amethyst. I try not to use words she wouldn't use herself. At the same time I try to make it fun and different.
E is next week and I'm stuck. Egg, Envelope, Elephant, Eye, Everywhere, Everyone, Earth. Hrmm...

So I go in and today the teacher says "So what do you have planned" I explain D & the work in progress of E. Next up after that is H and I was gonna go simple with Honey. (Jar with orange yarn connected to a honey dipper) but I said it was kinda too easy that I may have to make a Hive. (kiddingly)
The actually asked specifically if I can make a hive that the children and look at. So now I'm brainstorming on that. Never been ASKED for a project. This should be interesting.

Yep.. gotta find a balloon for a form and some large rubber bands to make the 'bands' of the hive.
Good catch
Thinking of keeping it hollow, cutting it in half, putting a honey comb side and a queen bee with worker bees on the other side of the interior hold it all closed with some tied ribbon, float some bead bees on the outside of it (black bead glued to sideways yellow bead, feed some orange tissue paper through for wings, glue back V type antenne on, thread a wire through it and stick it to the hive to 'float' with movement)
