alarm system?
We're interested in having an alarm system installed in our townhouse after we close... but I have no idea how much this will cost or how much the "monitoring" will cost each month.
It's an end unit, 2 stories with a full basement, 3 bedrooms.
Any ideas on the general price range for this sort of thing?
I'm assuming it depends on a lot of factors, like the number of windows and things like that. The main reason I want one is b/c we have sliding glass doors... for some reason, that makes me want an alarm, even though the crime rate is so low.

Re: alarm system?
i don't know how much to install because our house already had an alarm installed and we just reactivated it. we pay like $38.99 and that is for the alarm and carbon monoxide detector. i might add the fire/smoke detector too. they told me it's about $99 to install and then an extra $2-3 a month.

Re: alarm system?
I didn't even think that some would offer free installation! I thought that would be the expensive part.
(As you can see, I'm new at this!)

Re: alarm system?
Shop around. We got a call the other day for a very good deal on a motion sensor system with 2 key pads. I think it was like $20 a month with a low installation charge.

Okay, wow. This is so much less than I was expecting. I'll have to start asking around and get a list of places to call for quotes.
I think I'll make that FH's job.
