alarming dog bark for over an hour

so i call the non emergency number for the cops and amazingly the dog barking stops i have hear the "dog help" bark before and know what it sounds like. and now i am worried that one of my neighbors are in trouble and they have a scanner. please tell me i am wrong. but it is 12:30 at night and i could not sleep because this dog was barking
eta: there was a cop driving around .. i saw them... but by the time they got in the area the dog have stopped barking
