DH & I booked a cruise for Alaska for Aug. Any suggestions for particular excursions or must sees?
DH wants to take a seaplane but I am terrified of them We def want to whale watch, see the sled dogs, glaciers, nature, etc. Any tips/advice would be appreciated.
TIA

Re: Alaska
Dave and I went in 2005. We had a blast. We went whale watching in Juneau and glacier treking near Anchorage. I got a lot of tips for our trip from cruisecritic.com. Any questions let us know.

Re: Alaska
DH and I went last summer. Our very favorite thing we did was definitely the helicopter tour of the glaciers. I wish we had done the sled dog excursion but we didn't. Most of the excursions you can book on your own much cheaper than through the cruise line.
We also loved 4-wheeling and canoeing in Juneau.
Try to add on the visit to Denali National Park before or after the cruise, and take the tour in early morning - that's when you see the most wildlife.
I have a zillion picture I can share with you...

Re: Alaska
I second cruisecritic
DH and I just went this past summer.
Juneau - we went whale watching
Skagway - we went on a hike then canoed into a lake up close to a glacier (that was awesome!)
Ketchikan - we did the Eagle, Totems, and Lighthouse excursian. Ketchikan was a very short port of call. We were docked when we woke up and we had to be back on the boat by 11:30 for a noon departure.
Victoria - Beauchamp Gardens/Wine and Chocolate Tasting
We had a blast! It's definately a trip you'll never forget!

Re: Alaska
Maybe a silly question...Is it cold there during the summer?
It's such a beautiful place. I'd love to go.
