Alcohol & Losing Weight???
I'm doing really well with eating and excersizing so far and I know I've lost some weight already (going to WW tomorrow) but now I'm so afraid that I will gain weight if I have any wine or any type of alcohol on weekends w/DH.
What do you all drink? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

If you're doing WW, as long as you count it as part of your points, you should be okay. For any other diets, I guess a little in moderation won't really hurt...

Re: Alcohol & Losing Weight???
I drink wine like it's going out of style and still manage to lose, but I know that's not the case for everyone. As the pp said...as long as you count your points to allow for it you should be ok!

Re: Alcohol & Losing Weight???
Like Alicia said I think it really depends on the person. I will admit that I usually end up drinking either wine or beer one night a week (usually on Saturdays after weigh-in). This is just because I have a pretty busy social calendar and I have learned how to manage my day/week so that I can enjoy myself guilt-free one night a week.
What happens more often than not is I use all of my flex points on that night. Most times I actually go over the weekly 35 points but I am extremely active during the week and hardly ever eat those points so I think it balances out.
This works for ME. Although I absolutely hate never having flex points for the week, I do love having one meal/party/event where I let "loose."
Having said all that I must also say that:
1. You need to figure out what will work for YOU because as said before everyone works different.
2. I limit it to 1 MEAL not one entire day.
3. My definition of letting "loose" has vastly changed from a year and a half ago. It's probably not as bad as I think or make it out to be.
SO, I would suggest that in the beginning, until this has become a real lifestyle for you, enjoy what you would like to drink BUT count your points.
Also I would suggest that you stick to wine and beer or liquor with diet soda to keep the points down.
Sorry for the long-winded explanation, but I just wanted you to know that you can figure out how to still enjoy the things you used to...it is just going to time!

This is me to a T - and for me, it works. I can be more regimented and structured during the week at work, so I save up my points, eat very, very well and do most of my exercise during the work week. That allows me one meal or event on the weekend where I let loose, guilt free- as Azoodie said, it's not the same way in which I used to let loose, I still pick the healthier choices, but I splurge here and there, whereas I don't during the week.

Re: Alcohol & Losing Weight???
I was actually wondering this myself. I am having company this weekend and really want to have some drinks but I am afraid to mess up my points. Also my weigh in is on Monday. Maybe I will have rum and diet coke. That can't be too bad right?

LOL... I hear ya!
I'm not sure what you drink but I LOVE vodka with crystal light lemonade. I usually make them in a pint glass so I pour a lot of lemonade into them. I feel like the crystal light = water so it's a wash with the vodka. My WW leader would give me a swift kick if she saw this but hey, it works! I also like Absolute Ruby Red or Mandarin with Seltzer.
If I'm drinking wine, I alternate spritzers with a regular glass of wine.

Re: Alcohol & Losing Weight???
I'm not a beer or wine drinker, I drink purely hard liquor. Mostly jack daniels with a diet pepsi or a grey goose and sprite zero.
Never thought of the crystal light, thanks for that!
The only thing I can think of is that I lose more weight after drinking because I get extra hyper and burn more calories, or I completely throw my body into a tizzy by having all that extra calories when I usually have minimal.

Re: Alcohol & Losing Weight???
I'm preggo now but I only drank bacardi & diet cokes. I really had to eat less to drink. I once measured the alcohol I consumed in one night (I measured the shots and knew how many calories were in each) and some nights it was easily 800 calories...(I was home boozin it up w/DH )
If you must drink, eat less! Try no carbs for the day your going to drink. Not the healthiest solution but neither is the alcohol

I think this is what it is for me and why I have yet to hit a plateau
I do also change up my exercise routine A LOT though.
