Alcohol/glass shortage
So the car shortage sucks but alcohol and glass shortage?! Any truth to this? According to what I read, briefly btw, there is a glass shortage so nowhere to put the alcohol. Maybe someone else knows more about this. Not a big deal to me right now but holidays are coming up and love to celebrate with lots of drinks. Love my spirits for holiday spirit!

Haven’t heard about either and was just at the liquor store yesterday but didn’t look around (just was getting some nips). They looked packed out.

I have so many glasses from throughout the years and worse come to worse you can use red solo’s lol.
I think she means glass for wine bottles and liquor containers. Not glasses to drink out of.

Re: Alcohol/glass shortage
Ii have read several articles son that regarding wine. I think it is the wine that is being bottled now, so it may not be obvious in stores yet.
There is always boxed wine!
The only glass bottled thing I have seen this effect so far was mail order soup. lol.
When I was going to order a gift basket a couple of months ago, they said they changed to bags due to a glass shortage, and now they are using plastic containers, but they now say it is more convenient.

Re: Alcohol/glass shortage
My husband's friend owns a bar, and said that it is hard to get bottles (wine, beer and liquor) that are dark colored. Meaning the color of the glass is the issue.

My stomach just turned and I felt slightly hungover just reading that statement. LOL
I did see a headline on the news about it but I didn't hear any further. Better hoard now just in case! It will be a stressful holiday season without it!

I don't think anyone is hoarding cars. There is definitely a supply chain shortage. If you forgot, many places were completely and 100% shut down due to Covid. Thus meaning, nothing was being produced for quite some time.

I only say that as when we went looking at cars, there were 2 sold to one person as they were afraid they wouldn’t be able to get any when their lease was up and these were available. The salesman is actually calling all his leasers that have leases due up to next March. The dealership only closed for a short while and had so many people buy/lease as soon as they opened, to the number of 70 a week. They said it was crazy.

The issue was not the dealers closing it was the manufacturers of the chips shutting down due to Covid. That also led to issues getting appliances, computer products, etc. Everything that uses those chips was affected.

True. Now they just can't get the cars so they are trying to get anyone ending their leases to come in and take anything they have or get on the waiting list.
