All my crossover drivers....Update...I picked a car!!!
I'm going car shopping this weekend and I'm looking at crossovers. I'm going to look at the:
Hyundai Sante Fe Chevy Equinox Honda CRV Nissan Rogue
I'm questioning whether I should look at Toyotas right now.
Does anyone have any experience with the above or have another crossover to recommend?
This is what I'm looking for:
All wheel drive large trunk space not horrible gas mileage drives like a car I want to lease for under $300 a month.
Thanks!!
ETA we have a winner!!! Today DH and I went looking at the Toyota Venza, Chevy Equinox, Nissan Rogue and Hyundai Sante Fe.
At the end of the day my top 2 were the Venza and the Sante Fe. Both are gorgeous and roomy. I'm going to get the Venza because Toyota's deal is just so hard to pass up. And the Sante Fe ended up coming to $340 a month!!
FM me if you're interesting in the others and I can tell you my opinion.
Thanks for all your responses!!

Re: All my crossover drivers....
When car shopping before DS was born my top 3 were:
Honda CR-V Saturn Vue (sadly not being made anymore) Chevy Equinox
We too wanted All Wheel Drive
I test drove all three the same day, s i could have a fresh comparison.
I also test drove the Chevy Trailblazer (at DH's suggestion) but I felt like I was driving a brick and I was uncomfortable- TOO big for me.
The Honda CR-V was nice. I liked it. We put a $200 deposit to hold it.
The Saturn Vue, loved the pick-up and handling. Also turned very nicely. I ended up getting the Vue b/c they had a great offer of 0% (which I was approved for).
The Chevy Equinox, i liked it. We chose not to go with the Chevy b/c the salesman (and manager) were way, way, WAAAAAYYY too pushy and we walked out!
Looking back now (and after riding in my aunt's new CR-V) I am SO glad with my choice. The Vue has MUCH more space than the CR-V. Space in the seats, space in the "trunk."
Sadly they are no longer making Saturn, but hope my input helps.

Re: All my crossover drivers....
I have a VW Tiguan, but it doesn't fit into your criteria... I pay $380/month and the trunk space leaves a lot to be desired. We actually had to change our stroller choice when we registered because it wouldn't fit into the trunk.
I do, however, FREAKIN LOVE it!

It's not on your list, but I have the Subaru Forester, and I LOVE it. It fits your criteria. We were also looking at the CRV, Rav 4 and Sante Fe, but the Subaru was the best, in our opinion, after test driving.
Good luck with your search!

Re: All my crossover drivers....
We have Rogue but we pay more then $300. I love it, but if you are going to have another DC the backseat will be tight.

Re: All my crossover drivers....
Let me know how it goes the Equinox and Santa Fe are my top choices too.
My friend has the CRV and her DH is actually getting a bigger car because they say even with just one DC the car is starting to feel too small.

They don't. Pontiac has ceased all production and will be phased out.
I like the new 2010 Chevy Equinox from all the choices you listed.

Re: All my crossover drivers....
We have a Ford Edge. Got it 2008 and LOVE IT. Gas is ok. Trunk size is decent. Backseat is roomy.
But our payments are higher than your budget ($400) and we lease. DH loves it so much he wants to get another one when our lease is up next January.

Re: All my crossover drivers....
We have a new CRV (got it 4 months ago) & I love that car! The trunk space is great, drives like a dream. It only comes with a v4 engine but the pick up is great getting on to highways. My last jeep that I had for 10 years was a v6 & I don't even notice a difference.

Re: All my crossover drivers....
I have an 09 CRV.. hate it. I had better space in my 08 civic.
Not sure how many DC you have, but it barely fits 2 car seats ((1 convertible, and 1 infant)).
I also HATE the fact that it doesn't have a consul between the seats, because you don't know how many times someone will drop a bottle water and it will come over on the drivers side. Such a hazard IMO.
Depending on what features you want, you may not even get it under $300, I pay more for the EX-L.
