All out for last IUI. Help
Hi ladies just got my fourth bfn. I'm heartbroken. This will be my last IUI (no IVF) because insurance doesn't cover anything and I'm going to be out of money (and sperm for a full sibling to my son) after this fifth IUI. My first IUI was 50 clomid. Second was 100mg clomid. Third was 150 mg Follistim and forth IUI was 300mg of Follistim. I'm looking to go all out and don't care about multiples. Curious what some of your protocols have been. Thanks

Re: All out for last IUI. Help
Just curious; how many follies did you produce on 150 vs. 300 of Follistim?
My protocols were similar. I have done many IUI's. Clomid were a waste. Femara; was a waste.
I do like Follistim actually. I did get the whole "multiples" speech; but like you, that doesnt scare me one bit.
Are your IUI's covered? Or you are paying them out of pocket as well??
For IVF; certain Fertility clinics offer an IVF NYS grant. Depending on your/DH combined salary; they give you a percentage and the cost is much more affordable.

Agree with PP question, how many follies did you have? Also, what kind of IF, if anything, are you dealing with?

Re: All out for last IUI. Help
I wish I could remember how much I had on 150 but only 1 possibly two going into it. I got a lot more on 300mg-11 follicles. About 5/6 of those were growing nicely. Off the top of my head, the day ultrasound from the day I surged ( next day was IUI), I had an 18, 16.5, 14.5, 14 and I think there was one more in there too. The rest were btwn 9-13.
I don't have any known issues, I'm single. When I was trying with my son I was 33. First IUI was a bust, second got pregnant but miscarried, third was my son. Now I'm 38 and have had no luck. All I needed last time was clomid. Last time all I paid for was the sperm. This time on different insurance, I pay EVERYTHING out of pocket. And I'm not eligible for any grants through NYS. <sigh> this is making me miserable.

It sounds like you maybe had 2 mature follies that last try. I'd give it one more try if you really want another. What protocol did you use when you got pg with your son? Also, how many hours after trigger are you getting the IUI? It should be 36-40 hours.

Re: All out for last IUI. Help
My son was easy, 50mg clomid that was it. First IUI didn't work, second did but I miscarried, third was my son. I surged on my own, which Is part of them problem because it didn't give the follicles a chance to get big. I took the ovidrel 9 hours before the IUI because they didn't have a choice with timing because of my surge.
