All these cookie recipes got me thinking
How do you keep the cookies soft if you are making them in big batches to obviously give out several days or more later? I personally don't like crunchy cookes -- prefer them to be chewy. Any advice?
Also, I'd like to do this with my DD to give as gifts this Christmas. Do you think it is too much to expect a 2.5 year old to be able to be included?

I usually throw in a slice of bread. The bread absorbs the moisture first which keeps the cookies softer.
My kids have always loved to bake - she can crack eggs, mix the bowl, etc...

I take the cookies out a couple minutes before they're compeltey done, so they cook on the sheet and stay soft in the middle. I bag them as soon as they're pretty cooled. The bread trick also works good.

I also take them out about 5 minutes before they are done so they remain soft. I never tried the bread trick, but now I will.
