All this talk about cars...

I have NEVER financed or leased a car in my life. I know NOTHING about it at all.

Does anyone know what are some reasonable cars to finance?? I just need something to get me back and forth to work but thats safe for the baby. Dont need any high tech stuff..just a basic car. Affordable!!!

Any ideas????

I was in your exact situatiion. I didnt have a lot of money to spend, and I needed a nice reliable safe car to get me back and forth to work a total of 5 miles a day. I just leased a Pontiac G6 from Cunningham GM (right on Northern Blvd in Bayside- I think you live not too far from there). I picked it up Tuesday and I got a great deal and really love it- and everyone there was soooo nice. Very reasonable car, I didnt have to but first months payemt and a few fees down, plus I got some bells and whistles added just to spoil myself a little bitChat Icon

Honda Civics are top rated excellent cars that come in many trim packages. You can get a souped up one or a toned down one and the range is $15k to about 20K.

Extremely reliable. You should have this car for at least 10 years if you do the regular oil changes..etc..

good luck.

check the Sunday paper and look for 0% financing. I am seeing a lot of commercials now for Honda - they're bringing in new model Accords in the Fall and they have great deals going on now for the '07 models. HTH

I am biased becuase I own one and my dad works for them, but I love the Saturn Aura. I have an '07 and it was super affordable, complete with extra safety features that take money off your insurance, and they are so nice in and outside. I've had a lot of people stop me in parking lots and ask me if my Aura is a Acura or Lexus!! Hey, if they want to think it..I didnt pay the bill for those cars Chat Icon . If you want more info send me an FM.

Re: All this talk about cars..can anyone help me?

The big question is do you want to keep the car for a long period of time or do you want to get a new car every three to five years.
If it's the former - you want to buy and look for a reliable car that has a good longterm rating.
Hondas and Toyotas are great cars for this option. Hyundai's are also a good idea nowadays because they have greatly improved their products.
If it's the latter - then leasing is the option for you and you can be a little looser with your options. You can go for something a little sportier or higher end and just keep what you can afford as a payment as a guide.
Consumer Reports has a great guide - look for the cars with a check and a circle around them.

Re: All this talk about cars..can anyone help me?

I have had a Galant for 5 years and I love it!!!! So reasonably priced, BUT I would not buy a Mitsubishi unless you were planning to keep it for a while because they do not hold their value as well as some of the more expensive cars but I love my car. I bought it in 2002 when it was 1 year old with 11K miles on it for $11,500. They were asking 13,999 and I got them down. I think it was a great deal. I would go for a one or 2 year old car. Good luck.

I had a Honda Civic for 7 years and I NEVER had any problems with it. We were also able to sell it at 7 years old for a nice amount of money as they retain their value nicely.
