Where are you? My son's allergist is in Merrick, he started going around 10 months. I know several other families on here as well as some off here that go to her too.

I'm in Levittown..he threw out teh name Dr. Weiss..he said he wants to send me there after the surgery. he also said that gavin is too young to have airborn allergies, because I thougth maybe he was allergic to the cats..but that he might have infant asthma..***

Re: Allergy/Asthma specialist???

Matteo has the same thing and it started at about the same age. It was really bad his first winter but it got better over the summer. Last October it started acting up again so we decided to see a specialist. We went to Dr. Santiago in Manhassett. She's affiliated with Schneiders and she's wonderful. Matteo is on Pulmicort 2x a day (through the nebulizer) and singulair once a day. Albuterol as needed for emergencies.

Do either you or your DH have a history of asthma?

It is rare for them to have environmental allergies so early, but they did test my son for them in addition to food allergies b/c he had such severe eczema they couldn't believe it was just milk.

I like to think that he's just an over-achiever. Chat Icon

We see Dr. Mayer in Smithtown.

My DD was dx with asthma at about 15 months old. At the time they thought she pnuenomia.

She was dx with environmental allergies at 10 months old - Dr said it's rare but happens - as is the case with my DD.
She has asthma and among food allergies is allergic to dogs/cats and has a ragweed and mugwort (I think that's the name) allergery. It's so severe it affrects her ability to eat alot of fruits and veggies.

Good Luck - Let us know what happens.

Cathy, we see Dr Radinsky too! Makes sense as I believe we have the same ped too Chat Icon

LOVE her though, she's so easy to speak with and call with questions.

Anyway, to answer the question, if he does have signs of asthma treating him correctly is so important - my 3 yr old has had pneumonia twice but now that she is on pulmicort and singulair she has been SO much better. The pulmicort has really made a huge improvement with her.
